The Glen Cove Bandoleros (GCB) are currently participating in the Long Island Indoor Soccer League at Hofstra University.
The games are held at the Hofstra Bubble on Wednesday nights. Coach Carlos Gonzalez has led the team to a 4-1 record with a total of 32 goals, as of April 24.
GCB started the league on March 27 with a very tight game that resulted in an unfortunate loss of 5-6. However, since then, GCB has won four straight games. The latest game on April 24th resulted in a 14-3 victory. Goals were scored by Miguel Alvarado, German Parodis, Erick Martinez, Andy Quiñones, Jose Oliva, and Gary Fernandez. Jose had an impressive four goals, but was outdone by teammate Gary who scored six goals. GCB was able to restrict the opponent to three goals even though they were missing their starting goalie Steven Morales, who is currently out with an ankle injury. Aside from the first loss, Steven has been a force to be reckoned with by only allowing two goals in three games which includes a shutout. Remarkably, Steven was also able to score a goal on an opponent across the entire field from his own net.
Despite the rocky start, GCB has climbed to second place and has hopes of becoming champions. If you wish to show your support, the next game will be on Wednesday, May 8 at 10:30 p.m.; admission is free of charge. The GCB will be playing against the first placed team in an exciting and highly anticipated game.
