With four games left, the varsity girls played two tough games last week. On Tuesday they headed out to Clarke to play on a very wet and muddy field due to the inclement weather. Many girls had been in A.P. exams so the game began late and it took the first half to settle down. They were ahead 4 – 3 with scores from Yvonne Mennuti’s two goals, Kelsea Valance’s one goal and Meri Baade’s one goal. After the half the girls played extremely well and finished out with an 11-6 win.
The night game on Friday had the most perfect setting and the thanks went out to Darcy Belyea and her crew from the team, who said they had the field looking awesome. They also thank Mrs. Andreotti and her willing helpers for the Raffle and to the many fans.
The team played with heart and had a one goal lead at the half, 2 - 1; Renee Orshan was superb in goal and was helped by our strong defense. The attacks were finding difficulty in faking the keeper as many of their shots landed on her pads. In the second half the intensity grew and grew and goals were traded but the team just ran out of time. Yvonne Mennuti was amazing all over the field and had three goals. It was a tough loss to take but they played a very intense game.
“This leave us with two league games, our record is 8 wins and 2 losses,” said the coach. “Seniors, it was your very special evening and you gave it your all, thank you.”
