North Shore Varsity Girls Basketball Team Undefeated

The North Shore Girls Varsity Basketball ended their regular season undefeated in conference play and entered the post-season as the #1 seat in the Class A playoffs.

In their first round game, the Vikings hosted the Red Devils of Plainedge on Thursday, Feb. 16.  The Vikings overwhelmed the Red Devils from the opening tip, as they raced to a 20-10 lead after one quarter, despite shooting 0-12 from the three-point line in the opening frame.

In the second quarter, the girls started to heat up as they scored 35 points to take a 55-23 to close the first half.  Senior Amanda Johansen scored 24 of her career high 30 points in the first 16 minutes to go along with 13 rebounds and six assists in the Vikings 86-50 victory.  Christine Castiglione scored 10 points, including two deep three-pointers, to go along with her seven rebounds and three steals in the victory. It was a loud and boisterous crowd for the opening match, with the loudest applause being reserved for sophomore Meghan Brennan and eighth-grader Kelly Johansen as they scored their first varsity points in the game.
