Director of Athletics Don Lang proudly announced that two North Shore High School senior athletes signed National Letters of Intent (NLI). A Letter of Intent is a binding agreement between a prospective student-athlete and an institution. Once signed, the institution agrees to provide that student with financial aid (if eligible under the NCAA rules) for one academic year in exchange for that student’s agreement to attend the institution for one academic year. Additionally, all colleges and universities that participate in the NLI program agree to not recruit these student athletes once he or she signs the NLI.
North Shore Director of Athletics Don Lang said, “According to NCAA guidelines, Feb. 1 is the first official day that our track runners can sign their National Letters of Intent. Congratulations go out to Samantha Nadel and Brianna Nerud who have chosen Georgetown and Syracuse University respectively to attend in the fall. They will officially commit to these two universities today.”The students expressed their excitement and joy to achieve this prestigious accomplishment for all of their hard work and dedication. At the National Letter of Intent ceremony, Lang concluded by praising his student-athletes and encouraged parents, faculty, administrators and friends in the audience to recognize and celebrate their tremendous success. Coach Neil Levy and North Shore High School Principal Albert Cousins were also present to applaud these two highly dedicated and accomplished track runners.
