The Glen Cove Pee Wee Cardinals hosted the Seaford Broncos for a 9 a.m. game. It was their toughest battle to date on the coldest day of the season. They ended the game in their first tie with a score of 18-18.
Seaford started the scoring but the Cardinals quickly answered back with a 65-yard touchdown by Joseph Johnson. The extra point attempt was no good.
After great playing by the defense and tackles by David Berlin, Glen Cove quickly had back the ball and scored on a 30-yard touchdown by Jesse Barnes Jr. The extra point attempt was no good.
Seaford scored again and it was a back and forth effort all game. The first half ended with an interception by Barnes Jr. The score at the half was 12-12.
Offense played well with great runs by Joseph Johnson, Richard Perez, Madison Patino, and Barnes Jr. In the fourth quarter Johnson would score for the second time on a 55-yard touchdown and the score was now 18-12.
Unfortunately for the Cardinals, Seaford would score again leaving the final score 18-18.
Throughout the game, offense played touch and allowed for the scoring. Richard Perez, Dillon Fahey, Jah Tay Hernandez, Josue Cruz, Anthony Schettino, Thomas Poncet, Madison Patino, David Berlin, Peter Liotta, Christian Maiorana, Johnson and Barnes Jr. all played hard.
Defense, David Berlin, Josue Cruz, Thomas Poncet, Anthony Schettino, Richard Perez, Jah Tay Hernandez, Cayden Burnett, Peter Liotta, John D’Addario, Joey Imbriano, Ryan Evans, Matteo Cameron, Savion Allen-Vega, Vincent Pascucci, Justin Barwick, Christopher Gielbeda, Orazio Petito, Christian Maiorana, James Lopez, Madison Patino, Johnson and Barnes Jr. all were tough throughout the game with many tackles being made.
The tie gave the Cardinals a record of 6 wins, 1 loss and 1 tie. The last game of the regular season is home at 11 a.m., next Sunday, Nov. 6 versus Wantagh.
