Glen Cove Homecoming

Big Red Pounds the Hounds on Homecoming

Lights, Cameras, Homecoming! J Cameron Maiden Field was the place to be on Saturday night, as the Glen Cove community came out for the Glen Cove High School Homecoming Festivities. “Pound the Hound” was the motto for Homecoming 2011, and that is what the Big Red did, beating Roslyn 47-21.

Glen Cove put on an offensive clinic rushing for over 470 yards and 7 touchdowns on the evening. Running backs Billy Neice, Derek Shearer, Chris Saperstein, Marlon Hernandez, Will Kassar, Christian Klimaszewski, Bobby MacDonald, and Alex Aguillar were the recipients of the large holes opened by linemen Dane Caufield, Fabrisky Jean-Claude, Mario Serrano, Nick (the King ) Manzione, Stephan Stephens, Dylan Basile, Phil Ferrante, Evan Seigal, and Anthony Famigletti.

Defensively, Glen Cove was able to keep the Bulldogs on a short leash. Defensive linemen Danny Lynch, Mike Santiago, Andrew Trakakis, Andres Arguello, Joe Curcio, Nicky Rant, and Robby Krisch combined with linebackers Carlos Gonzales and Charlie Guastella to stop the run. Forced to pass, Roslyn could not break through the defensive backfield of Michael Burrell, James Hauser, Brandon Villa, and Zamir Nasary.

Special Teams also played a part in the Big Red victory with kickers Johnny Fiorino (5/7 on extra points) and Mitchell Caceras handing Roslyn poor field position all evening.

The Big Red has two more games remaining in their quest for another playoff appearance. At 3-3, the Big Red travels to Plainedge on Saturday and returns home on the 28th in their final home game vs. Valley Stream South.
