On a sunny Saturday, team Cove Photo marched through Glen Cove and onto the field to learn some drills and put them to practice in a game against Lightning Autobody. Cove Photo players Noah Capps and Alessandra Juarez scored goals, and the five players on each team moved the ball on the field and had a fun time in front of family and friends for this first game of the season.
It couldn’t be any better this past Saturday. An exciting parade, a beautiful day and a nail-biting, awesome game between Valley Sports and Glen Floors. The green team of Valley Sports put all efforts of sportsmanship and skill into motion to show how well they could play. “It was a thrill to see how well these little guys went head to head with a tough team that took some serious effort to beat,” said Coach Frank. “If you watched this game you would easily see the 110 percent effort that these players showed. The forward powerhouse of Skyler, Maxwell, Matthew, and Frankie, with the assist of Zade, Sahej and Izaiha, drove the ball screaming into the opponents’ turf. The green team just wouldn’t give up against the persistent Glen Floors. It was the quick response of Izaiha who kicked a rebound off the goalie to bring the winning point to a victorious ending. But it would not have happened if it weren’t for the amazing defensive and goal tending plays of Ryan, Sebastian and Jacob. Great job to the players of Valley Sports. Go Green!”
Division 1 Boys Morretto Mason Supply Boys kicked off the season with a great match against Arena Taxi Friday night. It was a great overall team effort with goals scored by Matthew Salinas, Christian Yanes and Brackson Murillo. The team all played with great spirit and sportsmanship. Looking forward to an exciting fall season together.
Glen Cove Chemists took on A+ Signs in the season opener Monday night. The tandem of Mialani Martinez and Jane Maleady led the offense but their efforts were thwarted by the spectacular goaltending of Tamie Perez. The game was scoreless until Camryn Kleinwaks scored for the Chemists. Carolyn Fahey was awesome on defense for the Chemists. Genna Cecchini and Julianna Turcios were great in goal. The twin dynamo of Caitlin and Gabrielle Callahan were great on the offensive side of the ball.
