Friday, 09 April 2010 00:00My wife and I have been up many nights trying to make sense of the athletic director fiasco. Good and decent employees of this district are starting to leave at an alarming rate, but the AD’s departure hits me especially hard because I have dealt with him personally.
I have seen the great work of our AD on a constant basis. Never have I called him with questions and not gotten an immediate response. Never has he not provided me with what I needed, whether schedule information or to talk about team philosophy.
Please!!! Will somebody help us, and the countless other people who thought he was doing an outstanding job, make sense of this.
Hundreds of thousands of taxpayer dollars were saved by Dr. Silverman’s countless donations and free programs. He is always accessible and works long hours, seven days a week. I feel completely comfortable calling him on a Sunday if I have a question. He never minds a bit. He lives and breathes Glen Cove students. He’s brought us culture through the Denmark student visit, MSG cable coverage of our games, a concussion prevention program, a student athlete leader’s team, an athletic trainer and much more. Our children are in a much safer environment since Dr. Silverman’s arrival.
How much longer are we going to let personal vendettas affect the good of our community?
