Two of the most difficult challenges facing Sea Cliff’s mayor and trustees are the current economic conditions and the environmental pressures on Sea Cliff from development in surrounding communities. Peter Hayes and Tom Powell are uniquely qualified to help us meet those challenges and I urge your readers to vote for them on Tuesday, March 16.
Peter has an MBA in finance and is a Certified Public Accountant. He has worked in finance, banking and as a negotiator. He will come to the job as trustee with four years experience in that position and everyone on the board and in Village Hall will benefit from his knowledge and skills. Peter knows how to lead and how to be part of a team. He works hard and he has a sense of humor. He loves Sea Cliff and has been an active volunteer in numerous organizations and on many committees and boards.
Tom is a career environmentalist. When we worked together as colleagues on the Zoning Board, I appreciated the expertise he was able to share because of his graduate education in environmental science and his daily experience at work as owner of EcoTest Laboratories, Inc., an environmental testing lab. Tom is a fair-minded man who carefully listens to all sides of an issue before he makes a decision. When he is a trustee, all of Sea Cliff’s residents will benefit from his knowledge as he evaluates the nature and extent of the impact development in surrounding communities will have on our village.
Peter Hayes and Tom Powell are running for office because they want to serve their community. As I complete my first year as trustee, I’d like to thank the residents of Sea Cliff for having given me that opportunity and urge them to do the same for Peter and Tom.
Carol Vogt, Sea Cliff Village Trustee
