This Christmas, among other ones, will remain near and dear to my heart. The reason this Christmas was so very special was because the tree that was donated as the city’s Christmas tree was my very own. When I was born, my grandmother Michelina planted it for me. I am now 20 years old and so was my tree. Always being a symbolic memory of my late grandmother, it was important to my heart.
Having trouble finding the perfect tree to lay in the center of our beautiful downtown, my father suggested our lovely pine tree. It sure was a winner, a real dime amongst pennies if you ask me. Sitting there in the midst of the nativity and the elegant menorah, our tree was dazzling with lights and twinkling with cheer.
I am proud to be a part of Glen Cove this holiday season because my love for this town really makes me who I am. Knowing that the tree could now be enjoyed by all who pass by it was a joy in itself. I hope everyone had a wonderful, healthy and certainly a joyous holiday this year!
