Letter: To The Mayor

Thank you for responding to our invitation to join us at the Senior Center Conversation and Discussion group last Friday. During our conversations, topics came up for which we have no answers. Yes, we read about them in the local newspapers, or hear things by word of mouth, but they do not give us the information we are looking for.

Although you are very busy, you took the time to be there for us. Of course one of the topics which usually comes up each week lately is the Glen Cove Hospital. You discussed this in great depth and helped us to understand the situation better. Not that our frustration was completely taken away, but we do understand it better. That also goes for the topic of the movie theater in Glen Cove, which has raised many questions such as, why is it taking so long for it to reopen?

You made us realize better that things do not happen overnight because of the intricacies in both cases. The other topic was the Glen Cove Mansion on Dosoris Lane. What you said made everyone feel better, as you said it will not disappear as the Morgan Mansion did, but it will be there in perpetuity. Too much of our local history has been destroyed by the wrecking ball. We had many other questions, but understood you were already late for another appointment.

We are grateful for you time with us, and many of us found out how much you care about Glen Cove and its people. Maybe you will come back another time. We would love that!
