On behalf of our family, I would like to extend sincere thanks to the Glen Cove Police, EMS, and NSUH-LIJ hospital staff for all their efforts on the morning of Tom’s passing, and to Jack Sheridan and his staff at McLaughlin Kramer Funeral Home for their guidance and support.
We would also like to thank all of our friends for the food, cards, phone calls and words of encouragement during this difficult time. Also, thank you to Janine at Page One and to Tony Gallego and Bob Canavan for their help. Many thanks to The Rev. Betsy Simpson, the choir, staff and parishioners at the First Presbyterian Church for conducting such a beautiful service in Tom’s honor.
A special thanks to the many who stood in line in the heat and the rain to pay their respects. Each face that passed by took a little more of the sting out of our loss. Thanks also to the American Legion, and the Glen Cove Fire Department and EMS for their participation.
For those who attended the church service, the presence of an Honor Guard from McGuire Air Force Base to honor Tom’s military service with an American flag and the playing of Taps meant more than they can ever know. I am sure that somewhere, Tom was smiling with pride.
At the eulogy for our daughter, Cheryl, five years ago, I said that it had taken a “village” to help us and her make her way through life. Tom always happily led his life as a very active member of that “village,” and I know he will be missed by many. As he would have said, “Be sure to have fun every day.”
