Letter: Thank You From the Senior Center

On Saturday evening, June 6, the Glen Cove High School DECA and Student Senate Clubs arranged and facilitated the 24th Annual Intergenerational Senior Ball, “That’s What Friends are For”.   With the supportive leadership of DECA Advisor Deborah Pearsall and Student Senate Advisor Ellen Lynch, the senior citizen participants partied and danced the night away in true “senior ball” fashion.

The Glen Cove High School Jazz Ensemble directed by James Reardon made an eagerly anticipated appearance and regaled us with the most energetic, toe tapping music along with the “golden oldies” that were nostalgic and heavenly.

Mayor Ralph Suozzi issued certificates of appreciation to all the students who helped to make this gala possible.  This wonderful group included:  Samantha Basile, Kieran Basra, Zach Boyajian, Yvette Canales, Vinny DiPaola, Warton Du, Alexandra Durso, Kimberly Farfan, Eldin Garcia, Robin Godfrey, Izabella Jagustyn, Anish Joshi, Lilia Kolbert, Adan Kornfeld, Casey Lynch, Daniel Lynch, Katie Marinaccio, Emily Natale, Rahu Nath, Laura O’Brien, Amy Pagano, Jenna Piccirillo, Dennis Ramadan, Greg Roussine, Zach Rubin, Lorena Silva, Omar Sosa, Erin Standinger, Chloe Stein, Jessica Totino, Ashley Trainor, Delia Trainor, Tyree Vann, Willie Wheeler, and Shawn Wu.

Thank you to Susan Cornell for pioneering this event and to everyone else who made the Intergenerational Ball possible…it seems that with each passing year, they just keep getting better.

Carol Waldman,
Senior Center executive director
