The negativity in the campaign against Chuck Lavine is downright strange. I read with great amusement the whining complaint that the Anton Community Newspapers won’t censor his “From the Desk of” columns.
As a reader, I know that for many years the Anton papers have adhered to a policy of “restricting the frequency of columns from incumbents up for re-election and not running columns from incumbents in the three issues prior to an election.”
That same policy was in effect when Chuck Lavine first ran in a primary. He managed to follow those rules without having to be a big crybaby.
But, what is good for the goose is apparently not good for the gander - especially when we see calls for the Anton papers to censor Lavine’s columns published right next to the “From the Desk of” columns by Republican officials: Mangano, Marcellino and Montesano (the last two, like Lavine, are also incumbents up for re-election).
I guess some people just believe that Republicans write better “From the Desk of” columns than Democrats.
