Edward T. Yavoski, a lifelong resident of the Gold Coast, died on Nov. 10, 2009 at age 86. Born in Oyster Bay, Ed lived in Locust Valley in the house he built in 1953 with his late wife Clara (nee Chebuske), his daughter Linda Leddy (Allentown, PA), and son Tom Yavoski (Plano, TX). Ed was a most devoted and loyal husband and a happy and caring father. In addition to his children, Ed is survived by his grandchildren, Greg Leddy, Jessica Leddy Carter and Zach Yavoski; son-in-law Joe Leddy and daughter-in-law Mitzi Yavoski. Also survived by his sister Brenda Wozack (Walter).
Ed knew, and was known by, a great many people across Long Island. From the age of 16, he was a drummer in a three-piece polka band, playing most every weekend at weddings and dances. As a carpenter (Local 7), Ed built homes and offices throughout the area. And in his later years, he enjoyed just sitting in the front yard tending his beautiful flowers and talking to people who passed by. His smile will be missed by his family, friends and neighbors.
Visiting held at Dodge-Thomas Funeral Home, Glen Cove. Mass at St. Hyacinth RC Church. Interment Holy Rood Cemetery.
