Carol Ann Trauernicht passed away at home in Locust Valley, surrounded by loving family and friends on January 15, 2013. “One of the most important things about Mom was not the love she gave but the love she inspired in others.” Billy Trauernicht. She was born Carol Ann Wilson “Sugar” on January 5, 1951 in Seattle, Washington to Jean Fairweather ‘Stormy’ and Jack Wilson. She is survived by her husband Parker, son Billy of Locust Valley and son Clay and daughter-in-law Talia Portner of Hawaii, who are expecting their first child in February. Carol is survived by her brothers Willy Wilson and his wife Kathy of Seattle, and John and his wife Janice of Florida. She is predeceased by her brother, Peter Wilson. Carol was an avid skier and knitter, board member of the Grumman Ski Club and a wonderful and cherished friend; leaving to all her gifts of compassion and selfless love. Her presence was and is a great gift and blessing for all she knew. Carol opened her heart and home to children and friends, bathing them in love and attention ~ second mother to many. She loved the outdoors, whether skiing with grace down mountains or swimming, sunning and enjoying campfires at the ocean. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Lustgarten Foundation (1111 Stewart Ave., Bethpage, NY 11714) are requested in her name by the family. The family wishes to give special thanks to all the wonderful and caring people at Memorial Sloan-Kettering, New York, NY and the NY North Shore Hospice Care Network.
