Obituary: John H. (Jack) Meyers

John H. (Jack) Meyers, M.D., of Glen Cove, died on Oct. 6, 2012. Beloved husband of Priscilla (nee Mastaerz). Devoted father of Kathleen (Glen) Stalter and John H. Jr. (Kris) Meyers. Loving grandfather of Drew Cohen and Lara Meyers. Predeceased by his brother Herbert A. Meyers, Jr. and parents Lillian and Herbert Meyers.

John received his BA from Yale University in 1946 and his M.D. cum laude in 1950 from Yale University School of Medicine. After interning in Detroit, he took his post-graduate training in dermatology at New York Hospital Cornell Medical School and New York Polyclinic Medical School.

John was in the Navy V12 in WWII and from 1954 to 1956, he was a captain in the United States Army Medical Corps and chief of dermatology at Ft. Belvoir, VA.

He was an adjunct professor in dermatology at New York Polyclinic Medical School and Hospital in dermatology from 1956 to 1969. He was a past president of the Metropolitan Dermatology Society of New York. He was attending in dermatology at the Nassau County Medical Center and chief of dermatology at the Glen Cove Hospital. He practiced dermatology at the Glen Cove Hospital from 1956 to 2007.

John was a long-standing member of the Nassau Country Club in Glen Cove and the Yale Golf Course in New Haven, CT. He was also a member of Morey’s Association in New Haven.

He was a Fellow of the New York Academy of Medicine, the Medical Society of New York and the Nassau Academy of Medicine. He was also a member of numerous dermatological organizations.
