Obituary: Charles P. Myles

Charles (Chuck) Peter Myles, born December 7, 1941, passed away peacefully on June 19, 2012.

Chuck was born and raised in Sea Cliff. As a youngster, he raised, raced and showed homing pigeons, continuing to do this during his life.

He graduated from Springfield College in Springfield, MA, with a bachelor of arts in education and physical education. He returned to Sea Cliff, where he worked as a lifeguard during the summer.

He was an active member of the Sea Cliff Volunteer Fire Department. He taught for BOCES (Board of Cooperative Educational Services) in special education. Chuck also participated in Golden Gloves boxing and restored antique Indian and Harley Davidson motorcycles (pre-1953).

Several years later, he moved upstate to Sloansville, where he taught physical education and special education for Amsterdam School District, Amsterdam, NY, and continued to repair and restore Indian motorcycles. He also became an accomplished Indian motorcycle hill climber.

Chuck was predeceased by his mother, Mary Jayne (Woodworth) Myles; and father, Charles Peter Myles.

He is survived by his sister, Mary Jayne Murphy; and nieces, Mary Jane (Murphy) Rosito, Suzanne Murphy; and his wife, Stephanie Myles.
