Oldrich Holubar, age 79, died on July 3 after a long battle with cardiac complications. Having lived for 40 years in Glen Cove and a lifelong career in advertising design, he and his wife moved to Alexandria, Virginia upon their retirement five years ago. One of his greatest personal accomplishments was being one of the designers of the Czech Chapel in the Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington D.C. He continued his interest in the arts and his paintings were accepted into many juried competitions. Beloved husband of Margarete, with whom he recently celebrated a 50th wedding anniversary, he is survived by five children; daughter, Barbara Berry of North Carolina, sons, Martin of Georgia, Robert and John of Virginia and Matthew of New York, six grandchildren and many devoted friends. A Funeral Mass is to be held at noon on Friday, July 17 at St. Patrick’s Church in Glen Cove. In lieu of flowers Oldrich would have preferred that everyone perform a random act of kindness.
