Nicholas “Nick” Brescia, a 41-year resident of Glen Head, passed away in his home on Sunday, Nov. 10, 2013, surrounded by his family and friends. He was 94. In 1943 he joined the army with duties that included assignments as an MP and Motor Pool Sergeant. After WWII he married Claire Severino Free and moved to Long Island. Trained by his father as a plasterer he became a sought-out craftsman and the owner of a successful plastering business. In 1972 he moved to Glen Head, where he joined the Glenwood Landing Post of the American Legion. He served in various capacities and eventually became an Honorary Lifetime Member. Nick and Claire were active members of the Golden Ring. He was predeceased by his youngest brother, John and oldest brother Salvatore. He is survived by his beloved wife of nearly 66 years, Claire. Loving father of Richard Brescia (Joanne) and Louie Free (Sharon). Cherished grandfather of Graham and Lauren Free, Tanya Brescia-Oddo and Alexandra Donnelly and great-grandfather of Hunter Pokorney. He is also survived by brother Vincent, sister-in-law Margaret Donaldson and numerous nieces and nephews. Visiting held at Whitting Funeral Home 300 Glen Cove Ave., Glen Head. Funeral Mass held at St. Hyacinth R. C. Church. Interment Calverton National Cemetery with military honors.
Madeline I. Kle, beloved wife of 67 years to John P. Kle, mother to John, Carole, James and Patricia; grandmother to Joshua and Joady Feiner, Danielle, Andrew and Liliyana Kle and Henry Horstmann. Mother-in-law to Stephen Feiner and Leslie Wanzor Kle; died surrounded by family on Nov. 9, 2013. Carol Lee Bailey, a long-time resident of Sea Cliff who relocated to Waltham, MA a few years ago, died in her sleep on Friday, Nov. 8, from complications from COPD. Carol was an active member of Roslyn Presbyterian Church in Roslyn and Trinity Church in Waltham, MA. She was an avid Mets fan, though since her move to Boston, the Red Sox also enjoyed her allegiance. Carol moved to Massachusetts in 2010 to be near her daughter Kate, and grandchildren Maeve and Reese Burnham. Carol is survived by her sisters Leslie Eve McHale, Beverly Bailey Shields, and daughters Leslie Marie O’Shea, Jean Patricia O’Shea and Kathryn Eileen Burnham. In addition to Maeve and Reese Burnham, she is survived by grandchildren Jakob Parker, Cierra Borgers and Gabrielle Bailey. Carol died at peace and with faith in Christ’s redemptive love. She will be missed.

Grace Josephine Mahon, 93, of Glen Cove, died on Nov. 6, 2013. Beloved wife of the late William L. Mahon for 72 years. Loving mother of Arline (Don) Ellison, William P.
