Gary Gray, of Oyster Bay and formerly of Glen Cove, died on June 19, 2009 at age 54. Father of Gary Jr. and the late Omeka. Son of Samuel and Martha. Brother of Bobby, Yvonne, Kevin and the late Samuel Jr. Also survived by a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. Reposed at Dodge-Thomas Funeral Home, Glen Cove. Service officiated by Rev. John T. Fitzpatrick, of Glen Cove, died on June 18, 2009. Husband of Theresa. Son of the late Kieran and Agnes Loftus Fitzpatrick. Father of Maryanne Fitzpatrick, Catherine (Martin) Cook, Stephen (Renee) and the late John J. Jr. Brother of Katherine (Donald) O’Sullivan, Keiran (Bud) (Georgina) Fitzpatrick, James (Rosemary), Agnes (Michael) Kolor, Margaret (Arthur) Hoar and Johanna (Guy) DeMarco and the late Thomas and Mary. Harold Van Alen Wait Jr., of Cranford, NJ, and Saltaire NY, died peacefully surrounded by his family at Overlook Hospital, Summit, NJ, on June 18, 2009 following complications from pneumonia. Born in Glen Cove on Jan. 2, 1927, he served in the U.S. Navy as a radar operator from 1944 to 1946 and graduated from Adelphi University in 1949. He worked at Chevron Oil Company in Perth Amboy, NJ, in accounting, personnel and labor relations from 1949 until his retirement.
A resourceful man, Harold always said that building their summer home in Saltaire, a family effort, was his happiest memory. There he enjoyed fishing, crabbing and calming and active participation in the Saltaire Citizens’ Advisory Association.
Gertrude “Trudy” Colasanti (nee Abbondondolo), of Glen Cove, died on June 18, 2009 at age 93. Wife of the late Dominick. Mother of Camille Del Savio (Robert). Aunt of Theresa Molesky (Josh). Last surviving sibling of Maggie, Annie, Larry, Virginia, Champ, Rocco, Charlie and Marie. Sister-in-law of Tony, Mike, Helen Nelan and Rose Kearns. Aunt and great- aunt to many nieces and nephews. “Aunt Gertie” to one and all. She was a volunteer with Glen Cove Hospital Auxiliary for over 20 years. Visiting at the Funeral Home of Dodge-Thomas, Glen Cove. Mass at St. Patrick’s RC Church. Interment Holy Rood Cemetery.
Ora P. Waller was born Oct. 14, 1942 in Virginia to the late Harry B. Waller and Lula B. Hill. She was their first born and the apple of their eye. Harry wanted a boy so he proceeded to teach Ora how to do boy things, but Lula being the lady that she was continued to thwart that with girly things. Harry and Lula left Virginia when Ora was about three years old and came to Glen Cove, a quaint little town that reminded them of home and they settled there. Ora being the eldest of five children had much responsibility place upon her. By nature she automatically became a second mother to her siblings.
David B. Rosenberg, DDS, Glen Cove High School Class of 1974, and his wife Jean Rosenberg, died on June 11, 2009 while cascading the waterfalls of the Damajaguas River in the Dominican Republic. They were both 52 years old. David was the son of Paul Rosenberg, DDS, and Barbara Rosenberg. Barbara is a retired physical education teacher for many years of the Glen Cove School District.
