John S. Zwolinski, of Glen Head, died on Oct. 9, 2009. Husband of Catherine. Father of John S. Jr. (Lynda), Cheryl (Robert Foote)and Brian (Rennu). Brother of Stella Nicholas, Mary Moore and Ruth Ellison. Grandfather of Steven, Pamela, Kodi, Sean and Shain. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Retired from Grumman Aerospace, he was a member of Atlantic Steamer Fire Company for over 50 years and Mill River Rod and Gun Club. Richard T. Mohring Sr., of Marco Island, FL, formerly of Locust Valley, died on Oct. 4, 2009. He is survived by Rita. Father of Richard Jr. (Deborah), John (Trisha), Ellen (Robert), Kathy and Robert (Laura). Grandfather of Melissa Mulvey (James), John Jr., Timothy, Meghan, Logan, Jennifer, Avery and Robert Jr. He was an accomplished builder/developer on Long Island and in Florida and a great lover of sports, especially his beloved NY Yankees. Richard J. “Scotty” Scott, of Sea Cliff, died on Oct. 5, 2009. He was a Korean War veteran and assistant train master for the LIRR for 30 years. Husband of Jean. Father of Debbie Pierce (Jack), Jo Ann Jantzen (Glenn), Richard Jr. (Patricia) and Linda Ninesling (Lloyd). Grandfather of Christopher, Scott, Bryan, Megan, Diane, Matthew, Nicole and Jessica. Edward Robert Nienstedt
Edward Robert Nienstedt, 92, of Glen Head, passed away on Oct. 5, 2009, after a long illness. Born in Brooklyn, he also lived in Bellerose, Wading River and Floral Park, before moving to Glen Head 30 years ago. He served in the United States Army during WWII for five years. As a second lieutenant, he was stationed in Puerto Rico and, later, the United States.
Happily married for 66 years, he is survived by his wife Anne C. Nienstedt (nee Mackin); his daughter Carol Stafford; his sons, Edward, Bruce (Maria) and Steven (Lorraine); and his son-in-law Timothy Stafford; his daughter-in-law Elizabeth Nienstedt; and his other daughter Carolyn Whalen; 16 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. He will be missed deeply and remembered lovingly by all who knew him as a man of honor, integrity, and grace. Visiting Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Whitting Funeral Home, 300 Glen Cove Ave., Glen Head. Funeral Mass Friday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Boniface Martyr RC Church, Sea Cliff.
