Fannie Troffa, of Glen Cove, died on Dec. 8, 2009. Wife of Pete. Grandmother of Chet, Dawn, Justin, Matthew, Elizabeth, Dennis, Tyler, Michael, Anthony, Joseph, Samantha, Anthony, Nick, Peter, Alana, Cholette and great-grandmother of Anthony. George E. “Butch” Seaman Jr., of Hernando, FL, formerly of Glen Head, died on Dec. 8, 2009. He was born Feb. 6, 1953. He worked at Seaman Fuel, his family business, for 35 years. Husband of Kim. Father of George III “Joby,” Jessica Taylor and Kristen. Son of Patricia and the late George E. Brother of Sandra Erickson, Robin Seaman-Cullum and the late Daniel. He will be missed by many nieces, nephews and friends. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Jan. 10 at the Whitting Funeral Home, 300 Glen Cove Ave., Glen Head. Francis R. Lewis, Retired Colonel Chaplain in the U.S. Army, died on Dec. 7, 2009 at the age of 90. A 43-year resident of Glen Cove, Rev. Lewis spent most of his ministry as an Army chaplain. Discharged from the Army in 1946 he finished college at the University of Washington and Garrett Theological Seminary in 1950. He re-entered the Army in 1951 and was sent to Korea serving with the Infantry where he received the Bronze Star. He was one of the most highly decorated chaplains. He received two Legion of Merits, the Meritorious Medal and the Joint Services Commendation Medal. His service took him overseas for 11 years, 3 years in combat and he received 6 battle stars. He served in many posts and units around the world. He attended many training schools including the Command and General Staff College. His Army ministry was a fulfilling one and in many places he was joined by his family.
L. Enrique Caballero, formerly of Glen Cove, resident of Palm Coast, FL, died on Nov. 15, 2009 at age 90.
Husband of Lucrecia. Father of Albert (Laurent), Herman (Kim), Teresa, Gloria Thompson, George (Michelle), Frank (Rosa), Clara Beissner (Phil) and Ingrid Tovar. Also survived by 16 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Visiting and prayer service held at the Funeral Home of Dodge Thomas, Glen Cove. Mass at St. Patrick RC Church. Interment Locust Valley Cemetery. Enrique came to this country in 1963 from Bogota, Columbia. He was a devoted husband and caring father of 8 children. He was a retired electrician and moved to Palm Coast, FL in 1992 with his wife Lucrecia. He was a wonderful role model and his family was proud of him. “Take It Easy.”
James D. Lynch
James D. Lynch died on Dec. 5, 2009 at the age of 77, after a brief battle with cancer. Survived by his wife Theresa; children, Christina Sorrentino (Ralph), James (Jeanine), Deirdre Donahue (Stephen); and grandchildren, Isabel, Maria and Cara Sorrentino, Alanna and Justin Lynch, Aidan and Maeve Donahue. Jim served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He was a wonderful, loving husband, father and grandfather and a friend to all who knew him. A Funeral Mass will be held on Dec. 11 at 11 a.m. at St. Hyacinth R.C. Church in Glen Head. Inurnment will be at Arlington National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in his name may be made to De La Salle Academy, 202 West 97th St., New York, NY 10025. De La Salle is a middle school dedicated to the education of academically gifted, economically disadvantaged children.
