Yvonne M. McDougal, of Glen Cove, died on Dec. 15, 2009. Sister of Harold F. McDougal. Also survived by her nieces and nephews. James E. “Ace” Baker, of Locust Valley, died peacefully on Dec. 15, 2009. Mr. Baker retired in 1991 from Nassau County as the deputy commissioner of General Services in charge of the Division of Purchase and Supply. He was appointed to his purchasing position by then County Executive Ralph G. Caso in Jan. 1971. During his two decades of service Mr. Baker directed and oversaw the purchasing of all County materials, equipment for such entities as the Nassau Coliseum, 19 story Medical Center, the District Court Complex and many others.
Prior to serving at Nassau County, Mr. Baker was the director of purchasing for the Town of Oyster Bay for six years and prior to that was a senior electronic buyer for Reeves Instrument Corp. in Garden City for 14 years.
Mr. Baker was a 50-year member of the Locust Valley Fire Department and served as chief of the Department from 1967 to 1969 and secretary-treasurer of the Fire District from 1970 to 1972. In addition Mr. Baker served in the U.S. Army and was later recalled to active duty as an enlisted reservist during the Korean conflict.
He served as a member of the Nassau County Republican Committee for 16 years and was a former president of the Locust Valley Republican Club.
Husband of Marion (nee Bozzello) for 57 years. Father of Linda Baker, Jeffrey E. Baker (Jessica) and the late James E. Baker, Jr. Grandfather of Thomas Lopez, Christina Lopez, Zachary, Edmund, Jennifer, James A., Jack and Liam Baker. Great-grandfather of Kayla, Thomas Jr. Olivia and Breonna Lopez. J. Kyle Faber, of Glen Cove, formerly of Locust Valley, died on Dec. 14, 2009 in his 96th year. He is survived by Eleanor, his wife of 69 years and daughters, Barbara and Mary Beth, both Sisters of Mercy, son Richard, his wife Kathy, daughters Jennifer, Stacy, Samantha and daughter Jill Gartmayer, her husband Thomas and children Glenn, Kristi and Cole. He was predeceased by a son Jack. Arrangements were made by the McLaughlin Kramer Megiel Funeral Home, Glen Cove. James D. “Spyder” Neillands Sr., of Glen Cove, died on Dec. 13, 2009 in his 95th year. Husband of the late Sally (nee Slater). Father of Gary, Sandy (Mike McCloskey) and the late James D. Jr. Brother of the late Richard G. Grandfather of Keely (Tom) and Ian McCloskey. Great-grandfather of Jake and James.
He was a WWII Army Air Corps veteran serving on the 20th USAAF in the Pacific Theatre. He was an Exempt member of the Glen Cove Fire Dept. Hook & Ladder, a member of American Legion Young Simmons Post 1765 and member of the Glen Cove Hall of Fame.
He worked for many years, along with his son as an international transport of thoroughbred fine equine. He worked for F.B. Pratt and was considered a true Gold Coast survivor.

George E. “Butch” Seaman Jr., of Hernando, FL, formerly of Glen Head, died on Dec. 8, 2009. He was born Feb. 6, 1953. He worked at Seaman Fuel, his family business, for 35 years. Husband of Kim. Father of George III “Joby,” Jessica Taylor and Kristen. Son of Patricia and the late George E. Brother of Sandra Erickson, Robin Seaman-Cullum and the late Daniel. Francis R. Lewis, Retired Colonel Chaplain in the U.S. Army, died on Dec. 7, 2009 at the age of 90. A 43-year resident of Glen Cove, Rev. Lewis spent most of his ministry as an Army chaplain. Discharged from the Army in 1946 he finished college at the University of Washington and Garrett Theological Seminary in 1950. He re-entered the Army in 1951 and was sent to Korea serving with the Infantry where he received the Bronze Star. He was one of the most highly decorated chaplains. He received two Legion of Merits, the Meritorious Medal and the Joint Services Commendation Medal. His service took him overseas for 11 years, 3 years in combat and he received 6 battle stars. He served in many posts and units around the world. He attended many training schools including the Command and General Staff College. His Army ministry was a fulfilling one and in many places he was joined by his family.
