Pierre Raymond Warny, of Port Washington, died on April 9, 2010 at the age of 94. He was a WWII veteran serving with the U.S. Army in the European Theatre. He was co-founder of the Toy Balloon Corp. in New York City with his sister the late Helen Weihs. Husband of 68 years to Irene. Father of Joellen (Bill) Ahmuty and Pierre Raymond (Nancy) Warny Jr. Grandfather of Elizabeth (Jim) Silveria, William R. (Monica) Ahmuty, Michael (Kaci) Ahmuty, Peter Warny and great-grandfather of Will, Chris and Jack Silveria, Will and Caitlin Ahmuty and Riley and Cassidy Ahmuty. Rebecca “Betty” York, of Westbury, died on April 7, 2010. Wife of the late James. Mother of James Jr. (the late Lydia), Sheila Fontana, Adam and Jade York Karacus (Suleyman). Elsie Ann Morley, of Glen Cove, died on April 7, 2010. Wife of the late George. Mother of George (Joann). Grandmother of Patricia Ann. James J. Rotunno died on April 6, 2010. He was a lifelong resident of Glen Cove for 79 years. He was born on Dec. 10, 1930. He was a retired veteran of the Korean War and the recipient of the Purple Heart. He was a member of the 2nd Division, 23rd Infantry Regiment, B Company. James also received many other commendations, medals and badges to commemorate his combat actions in North Korea.
Angelo R. D’Avino, of Sea Cliff, died on April 5, 2010. Husband and best friend of Wendy. Father of Richard Davino (Deborah Frank) and Katharine Boyle (David). Grandfather of Maxwell and Rebecca Davino. Brother-in-law of Tess Davino and many nieces and nephews.
