Norman Everitt McCloy Sr., of Bayville, died on Feb. 4, 2010 at age 88. Norman was born on June 18, 1921 in Locust Valley.
Norman’s career began as a painter and paperhanger, working for many famous people on Centre Island. Then, in the 1960’s along with the help of his wife Florence he opened Norm’s Tackle Shop which was located right in the village of Bayville. He was known far and wide for the fishing rods he made by hand.

Known as the ultimate caregiver, Mr. Harnett shepherded the care of thousands of Long Islanders in his role as president/CEO of Family & Children’s Association, a human care agency serving Long Island’s neediest population. Mr. Harnett passed away unexpectedly on Jan. 23, 2010.In addition to his role at Family & Children’s, Mr. Harnett served as advisor to The Health and Welfare Council of Long Island, member (formerly, Secretary of the Board and member of the Executive Committee); The Kimmel Housing Development Foundation, Inc., member, Board of Directors; Long Island Federally Qualified Health Center, Chair, Board of Directors; New York State Association of Family Service Agencies, Vice President and Chair of the Advocacy Committee; New York State Health Foundation, Special Opportunity Grants, Peer Review Committee; United Nations Department of Peacekeeping Operations, Consultant, Management Training; The United Way of Long Island, Vice President, Agency Executives Council; Anna and Philip Kimmel Foundation, Advisor and Community Advocates, Board member.
Corinda Schramm, of Glen Cove, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Jan. 31, 2010. Wife of Michael D. Mother of Leslie Hughes (Steve), Laura Olshefsky (Michael), Linda and Corinda Hanlon (Martin). Jean Harvey Sack, of Locust Valley and East Norwich and more recently of Vero Beach, FL, passed away peacefully on Jan. 31, 2010. Born March 29, 1923, in Stranraer, Scotland, Jean immigrated to the U.S. in May of 1927 with her mom and brothers aboard the ship Transylvania, where they were met in New York Harbor by her dad, who had arrived ahead of them.
She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Charles Sack; and her five children: Russell and Ellen Sack of Novato, CA, Chuck and Jill Sack of Austin, TX, Barbara and Jim Brooks of Austin, TX, Gerry and Angelo Curro of Golden, CO, and Vance and Meg Sack of Austin, TX. She is also survived by her 11 grandchildren, Elizabeth and Jenny Sack, Emily and husband John Cunnie, Joss and Rory McKernan, Dylan and Stuart Sack, Stephen and Nina Curro and Rebecca and Stephanie Sack.
Vivian E. “Rex” Binning, of Glen Cove, formerly of Georgetown, Guyana, died on Jan. 29, 2010 at age 76. Former husband of Masie. Father of Vanessa, Brian and the late Manley. Brother of Wilma, Norma, Betty, Jacky, Regina, Deanna, George and the late Barbara and Verna. Grandfather of Simonette-Maria, Keysha and Myles. Rex was a mechanical engineer for Guyana Airlines.
