George W. LeTellier, 84, a resident of Stratford, NY, passed away on Aug. 18, 2010 in Oswego. Born in Glen Cove, he was the son of the late George and Margaret (Walker) LeTellier. He resided in Huntington Station for many years and the past 22 years he had resided in Stratford.
George was a U.S. Navy WWII veteran serving in the South Pacific in the U.S. Navy Seabees. He was employed as a carpenter with Carpenters Local Union #7 on Long Island. George was a member of the Moose Lodge and the American Legion.
Loren A. Waage, of Kew Gardens, formerly of Glen Head, died on Oct. 31, 2010. Son of Ludvig and Nancy. Brother of Kirsten Waage. Fiancé of Sarah Guthrie. Florence M. Hoffman, of Glen Cove, died on Oct. 30, 2010 at age 90. Wife of the late Albert L. Mother of Edward “Ted” and wife Megg and the late A. Lincoln and wife Muffie. Grandmother of Tonya, Timothy, Amy Maescher and Carrie. Great-grandmother of five. Lester H. Chase, a longtime practicing attorney in Glen Cove and resident of Glen Head, died on Oct. 28, 2010 at his home in Albany at the age of 100.
Born in Massena, NY, in 1910, he was the son of Giles Aquilla Chase and Edith Hall Chase. He graduated from Massena High School in 1926 and earned his bachelor of arts degree from St. Lawrence University, graduating with honors in 1931. During the early years of the depression, Mr. Chase was an English teacher at Middleburg High School and Glens Falls High School as well as a summer school instructor at Glen Cove High School. He entered Cornell University Law School in 1936 and graduated second in his class with honors in 1939. While there, he was the business manager of the Cornell Law Quarterly and was admitted to the Order of the Coif, a fraternity of academic excellence.
