Charles North Ludlow
Charles North Ludlow died on Feb. 28, 2010 at home with his family. He was born on March 22, 1927 in Glen Cove, the son of Jane (North) Ludlow and Charles E. Ludlow of Sea Cliff.
Growing up in Sea Cliff and on LI Sound and Charlie’s early years as camper, later a counselor, at Mowglis, a boy’s camp located on Newfound Lake in New Hampshire, provided experiences and taught him a love of nature and the sea. Later, his service in the Navy during WWII instilled an enduring loyalty to country.
Reinhold Herzog, of Bayville, died on Feb. 28, 2010 at age 75. He was a longtime employee of the Locust Valley School District for over 33 years. Husband of Liselotte. Father of Fred (Debby). Grandfather of Matthew. Visiting and Service at the Funeral Home of Dodge-Thomas, Glen Cove. Interment Pinelawn Memorial Park.
James A. Walsh
James A. Walsh, of Glen Cove, died on Feb. 27, 2010. Husband of Carol. Father of Patricia (Arthur) and the late Eileen. Grandfather of five. The family will receive friends Thursday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the McLaughlin Kramer Megiel Funeral Home, 220 Glen St., Glen Cove. Funeral Mass at the Church of St. Patrick Friday at 10 a.m. Interment St. John’s Cemetery, Middle Village.
Valerie R. Ritchie, of Bayville, died on Feb. 23, 2010. Wife of Ronald. Mother of Nicole Vitale (Joseph) and Jordan Achilli. Sister of Virginia, Jane, Irving, Dorothy and the late Arthur. Paul Restaino, of Locust Valley and Palm Beach, FL, died on Feb. 19, 2010 at age 65. Paul was born and raised in New Jersey and lived most of his life in New York City and Long Island. He received his undergraduate degree from Case Western Reserve in Ohio. He earned his graduate degrees from the University of Pennsylvania and Harvard Business School, Class of ‘71. An entrepreneur, Mr. Restaino founded Paul Restaino Associates, a real estate and investment firm in Manhattan and Long Island. He was the son of Christina (nee Spina) and Patrick Restaino of New Jersey. In addition to his wife Karen and son Matthew, Mr. Restaino is survived by his brother Patrick of New Jersey; his sisters Joanne Germann of New Jersey, Elaine Sculley of San Francisco and Christine of Manhattan. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Arrangements made by Dodge-Thomas Funeral Home, Glen Cove. A candlelight Mass was held at St. Ignatius Jesuit Retreat House. Robert Navesky Jr., 52, of Locust Valley, died on Feb. 5, 2010. Son of Robert Sr. and Margaret. Brother of Deborah Dooley (Craig). Uncle of Nicole, Lauren and Brian. Also survived by relatives and friends. Arrangements were made by the Oyster Bay Funeral Home. Memorial Mass at St. Gertrude RC Church. Interment private.
Marian Meade, of Glen Cove, died on Feb. 22, 2010. Wife of the late Charles. Sister of Edward Hornowski and the late Helen Sujeski. Also survived by nieces and nephews. Arrangements were made by the McLaughlin Kramer Megiel Funeral Home, Glen Cove. Funeral Mass at the Church of St. Patrick on March 2, 2010 at 10 a.m. Interment St. Patrick’s Cemetery.
