Evelyn Stone McLaughlin
Evelyn Stone McLaughlin, of Glen Head, passed away on March 21, 2010 at the age of 96. Beloved wife of William Watson; mother of Lee Cymbalist; devoted grandmother to William Cymbalist (Marissa Reyes) and Scott Cymbalist. She is also survived by her youngest brother Byron Jones (Elaine). Evelyn’s eldest brother Buddy Jones (Rita) and middle brother Arnold Jones (Florence) predeceased as did her brother-in-law George McLaughlin (Luella).
Catherine Sita, of Glen Cove, died on March 26, 2010. Beloved wife of the late Silvio. Devoted mother of Joseph (Ellen), Silvio (Kathleen), Suzanne (Steve) DiVito and Jeanette (John) Meyer. Loving grandmother of 13 and great-grandmother of seven. Arrangements were made by the McLaughlin Kramer Megiel Funeral Home, Glen Cove. Funeral Mass at the Church of St. Rocco. Interment Locust Valley Cemetery.
James Bellas, formerly of Sea Cliff, died on March 23, 2010 at age 84. Beloved husband of the late Virginia. Loving father of Diane (Ray Brackett) and James Jr. (Karen). Dear brother of Mary. Donald Schaeffer Kowalchuk
Donald Schaeffer Kowalchuk, of Glen Cove, died on March 16, 2010 at age 71. Dear brother of Michael Greico. Donald was employed by Nassau County and worked for many years at Christopher Morley Park in Manhasset. He was an avid bowler. A Catholic prayer service was held at Dodge-Thomas Funeral Home, Glen Cove. Interment private.
Shirley Bear, of Sea Cliff, passed away on March 2, 2010. She was the beloved wife of the late Howard. Mother of Donald and Richard and loving grandmother of four. A private service will be held in Texas.
Mary Elizabeth Eaton Meek
Mary Elizabeth Eaton Meek, of Mountain Rest, SC, formerly of Glen Cove, died Dec. 18, 2009. She was born on April 26, 1937. Mother of Karen (Ricky) Cox, Kathy Keppen, Howard (Janis) Stimis, Therese (Benjamin) Stimis-Boisson. She was predeceased by Michael Stimis. Loving grandmother of Justin, Christopher Cox and Danielle Evans, Jay and Molly Keppen, Jenna and Lauren Stimis, Paul and Ryan Walker. Great-grandmother of three. Mary is survived by her brothers, Thomas and Edward Eaton and her sister Peggy Carlstrom. She is sister to James and John Eaton. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Mary “Muriel” Magenheimer. of Glen Cove, died on March 18, 2010 at age 96. Muriel taught second grade at St. Patrick’s School of Glen Cove for 23 years before retiring at the age of 79. Beloved wife of the late Frederick E., president of Mason Au & Magenheimer Candy Co. previously located in Carle Place.

Anthony J. Schmitz
Anthony J. Schmitz, of Glen Cove, died on March 21, 2010 at age 82. He was a retired NCPD detective and WWII Navy veteran. He was a member of VFW of Glen Cove Post 347. Husband of Ginny. Father of Cliff (Susan) and the late Gary. Grandfather of Melanie and Michael. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. Visiting at the Funeral Home of Dodge-Thomas, Glen Cove. William Clark Shoen
William Clark Shoen, formerly of Glen Cove, died of complications from pneumonia on March 20, 2010 at the Northport VA Hospital. Son of Howard and Ida Mae Shoen, founders of North Shore Day School in Glen Cove, Bill graduated from Friends Academy in 1957 and Colgate University in 1961. He served in the U.S. Army where he was an officer serving during the Vietnam War. He is survived by his sister Barbara Brundige (James) of Syosset and East Hampton; his children, Stacey and Kelly of Salt Lake City, UT: grandchildren, Alyssa, Vanessa and Braxton; and nephews, James, Jonathan, Joseph and Jesse.
