Shirley M. Hedger MacCrate died in Naples, FL, on April 8, 2012. Wife of the late John MacCrate Jr. Both resided in Sea Cliff for many years. Shirley is survived by four cousins, a niece and nephew as well as her stepfamily of two children, nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. A memorial service is planned for 11 a.m. on Friday, May 18 at the Whitting Funeral Home, 300 Glen Cove Ave., Glen Head. A private interment is will immediately follow the service. Obituary: Dr. Louis Grella

Dr. Louis Grella, 53 of Manasquan, passed away May 2, 2012 at his home with his family by his side. Louis was born in Sturno, Italy, and raised in Glen Cove. He graduated from high school in Glen Cove, C.W. Post College and SUNY College of Medicine, Syracuse. He was a member of ZBT Fraternity while at C.W. Post. Louis did his residency in Flushing, in general surgery and he specialized in vascular surgery at Stony Brook Medical University. Louis then moved to New Jersey where he was affiliated with several shore area hospitals, but mainly with Ocean Medical Center, Brick. Louis enjoyed golfing, fishing and operating radio-controlled airplanes. Dr. Louis was predeceased by his father, Nunziante Grella and his son, Christopher. He is survived by his loving wife, Angela (nee Graziosi) Grella and his son, Nicholas, both of Manasquan. Louis is also survived by his mother, Lucia Grella of Glen Cove; his brother and his wife, Dominico and Virginia Grella of Glen Cove; his sister Patricia Grella-Marazita and her husband, John of Glen Cove; aunt, uncles and cousins, nieces and nephews. Visitation held at Funeral Home of Dodge-Thomas, Glen Cove. Mass was held at the Church of St. Rocco. Interment at Holy Rood Cemetery.
