Obituary: Kathryn (Katie) Grella

Kathryn Grella was called Katie when she was a little girl and some of her friends still called her that. She was a fairly good athlete and demonstrated this skill in a game at a fair when she threw a rolling pin at a scare crow that was at least 100 feet away and hit it square in the head.

She had to leave high school in ninth grade because of the Depression, but that didn’t stop her from becoming self-educated in many areas. She was hired by Photocircuits Corporation to run the newly built cafeteria where she did all the ordering, supervised the cooking, did the hiring and kept the books. Quite an accomplishment!
