Drug Busted Pharmacies

In the wee hours of Monday morning, two local pharmacies were burglarized: Locust Valley Chemists on Forest Ave. and Glen Head Pharmacy.

By the time the morning rush was cranking up, the broken window was boarded up tight, the glass shards swept into boxes neatly piled on the sidewalk and police had arrested three suspects. For Locust Valley Chemists, it was the third break-in in roughly 10 years, owner Robert Coyne told local media. He said he kept the most serious narcotics locked up tight in a safe. After tearing through the Locust Valley pharmacy in just a couple of minutes, the thieves hit Glen Head

Pharmacy. One of the suspects dashed out the front door when police arrived, and was apprehended after a brief chase. Two other suspects were also arrested.  Police officials said the incidents were being investigated as a ‘pattern burglary,’ similar to other recent pharmacy burglaries in other parts of Long Island. In other drug crime news, a Locust Valley deli/grocery worker was arrested after signing for a box of cigars containing two kilograms of cocaine. Nassau police worked with several other agencies, including the NYPD, Drug Enforcement Administration and the U.S. Postal Service to make the arrest. Bethpage resident Ariel Rodriguez is charged with possession and sale of a controlled substance, and faces up to 25 years if convicted on both charges. Bail was set for $250,000.
