The YMCA at Glen Cove hosted a dedication ceremony for the new Martone Children’s Center. The new- state-of-the art facility will provide pre-school, after school childcare and day camp programs to over 200 children each day.
The project cost was $2 million. Capital Campaign Chairman Peter Treiber spearheaded fundraising efforts that reached over $1.5 million through private donations and government grants.
Over 80 people attended the ceremony with representatives from the YMCA of Long Island Board of Directors; Glen Cove Branch Board of Managers; YMCA staff and Martone family members.
Plans for the outstanding facility were developed by the YMCA at Glen Cove Board of Managers Building & Grounds Committee, chaired by Ben Farnan, Architect James O’Grady and Builder Joseph Graziose, Sr. of Paramount Development Associates, LLC.
In attendance were NY State Senator Carl Marcellino, Assemblyman Charles Lavine and Mayor Ralph Suozzi. Also in attendance was YMCA of Long Island officers: Michael Famiglietti, president and CEO; Edward J. Bogan, senior vice president and CAO; Anne Brigis, sr. vice president and COO and the Hon. Richard J. McCord, chairman of the YMCA of Long Island, and members of the Martone family.
