Loggia Glen Cove No. 1016, Order Sons of Italy in America recently awarded Scholarships, Dante Medals and a Community Service Award at their last membership meeting.
This year the following scholarships and awards were presented: The Lorenzo Martone Family Perpetual Scholarship was presented to Anthony LaRosa, The Scholarship in Memory of Marianna Crescimanno was presented to Elizabeth Sabbatini, The Loggia Glen Cove No. 1016 Scholarship was presented to Stephanie Olson, The Loggia Glen Cove No. 1016 Scholarship in Memory of Lisa Carrera was presented to Michael Cerullo, The Loggia Glen Cove No. 1016 Dante Medal for Excellence in Italian, sponsored by the Carrera Family was presented to Michele Monaco, The Loggia Glen Cove No. 1016 Dante Medal for Excellence in Italian, sponsored by Kathryn and Angelo Grande was presented to EmilyFerrara, The Loggia Glen Cove No. 1016 Dante Medal for Excellence in Italian, sponsored by Peggy and Jim McAleer was presented to Lauren DeMaria and The Loggia Glen Cove No. 1016 Community Service Award, sponsored by Virginia and Angelo La Rosa was presented to Alyssa DiGiovanni.
Alexa Oxer received the Giuseppe A. Nigro Memorial Scholarship; Jessica Totino received the Angelo & Kathryn Grande Scholarship in Memory of Rose and Frank Della Ratta and the Angelo & Kathryn Grande Scholarship in Memory of Angelina and Ignatius Grande and the Enrico Fermi Lodge Scholarship in Memory of Pietro Scalamandre; Lauren De Maria received the The Marianna Crescimanno Memorial Scholarship and the Carmine Cocchiola Scholarship and Brandon Robilotti received the Martone Family Scholarship in Memory of Lorenzo Martone and the Michael Valente Lodge #2667 Ed Buscemi Memorial Scholarship.
In attendance were: Doug Watson, representing Charles Lavine, New York State assemblyman; James Reed representing Thomas Suozzi, Nassau County executive; Diane Yatauro, presiding officer of the Nassau County Legislature; Elizabeth Faughnan, Town of Oyster Bay councilwoman, Ralph Suozzi, Glen Cove mayor; Richard McCord, Glen Cove City Court judge and Thomas Lupo, New York State 1st vice president, Order Sons of Italy in America representing State President Sal Lanzilotto.
