The 216 students were graciously greeted by the middle school administrators, faculty and staff and participated in an orientation. Principal Ferris reiterated the school slogan, Everyone Matters, Everyone Cares, Everyone Learns, and assured his students that, “North Shore Middle School is a place where everyone feels that they matter, where everyone takes the time to care about the individual needs of others, and where everyone feels safe and inspired to learn.”

During the orientation, the sixth graders took a tour of their classrooms, opened their lockers, participated in fun meet and greet games, and enjoyed a delicious BBQ sponsored by the Middle School PTO.

Letter By North Shore Incoming Senior Inspires Change

Thursday, 22 August 2013 00:00

Adriana Rubertone, an incoming senior at North Shore High School, recently encouraged U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand to give the keynote speech at the American Legion’s

Empire Girls State convention. In June, Rubertone was selected to attend the American Legion’s Empire Girls State convention, a prestigious annual leadership program for young women at SUNY Brockport. After discovering that a keynote speaker was not customary for the Girls State event, but the boys program usually featured a high-profile political guest speaker, Rubertone set out to correct the imbalance between the two programs.

Summer Program Ends With Success

Thursday, 22 August 2013 00:00

August 9 9 marked the end of the 2013 Glen Cove After 3 Summer Program. It was also Showcase Day, and the program ended with great success.

This summer program was the program that almost didn’t happen, since no grant was received from New York State this year. Nonetheless, due to the dedication and commitment of the Glen Cove After 3 staff, the educational summer program ran with a vast variety of activities and trips offered all at a reasonable fee for parents.

The dedication of the staff and youth participation was made clear with the displays of creative and educational projects, many reflecting our theme on natural disasters.
