Truth Behind Green Pest Control.” Hot buffet, $10, cash bar.
It’s time to get “lit” at sunset. Bring your book, beach chair and snacks and join in for the Glen Cove Library’s first ever evening book discussion at Pryibil Beach at 6 p.m., discussing Liane Moriarty’s poignant novel, What Alice Forgot. After suffering an accident that causes her to forget the last 10 years of her life, Alice is astonished to discover that she is 39 years old, a mother of three children and in the midst of an acrimonious divorce from a man she dearly loves. Join Marissa Lee Damiano and Amy Mondello as they lead a dynamic discussion of this novel. Copies of the book are available at the reference desk. Rain location will be at the library.

The Gold Coast Public Library's Summer Kick-Off Weekend gets started at the Glenwood Landing American Legion Post at 190 Glen Head Rd. with the Cold Spring Harbor Band playing the tunes of Billy Joel at 7:30 p.m. Friday, followed by a fun day for kids on Saturday, beginning at 10 a.m.

The United States Coast Guard Auxiliary, Glen Cove Flotilla 12-03 is offering a boating safety seminar at Garvies Point Museum on topics related to safe operation, regulations, responsibilities of boat ownership and operation on Saturday, June 21 and June 28. This is a two-part course; all participants must attend both classes in order to receive a certificate. Cost: $65 per person (includes both days)

In this hands-on workshop at the Glen Cove Library, you’ll learn how to get an email address, send, receive, forward and reply to email. After mastering the basics, you’ll learn how to attach files, photos and images to the email message and how to download attachments received. Viruses, hoaxes and ways to minimize junk mail will also be addressed. A materials fee of $7 (payable at the time of registration, by check or money order only) includes a useful manual and lifetime support through email. This program for the frail, elderly seniors is available Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. It is located on the lower level of the Glen Cove Senior Center, at 130 Glen St. in Glen Cove.
The program is a warm, inviting and secure place to spend the day with a caring, experienced, and responsive staff. Transportation is provided to residents of Glen Cove and some surrounding communities. Lunch and snacks are served daily. A full schedule of stimulating and meaningful activities offered.
