AHA Designer Showhouse

The former Lydia Pratt mansion at 145 Dosoris Lane has been transformed into a “Home Is Where The Heart Is” designer showhouse benefiting the American Heart Association.  Showhouse hours: Tuesdays through Fridays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.  Admission is $30 per person or $20 per person when purchased in groups of 20 or more.  There will be no admission to the Showhouse 30 minutes before closing. Children under 6, strollers and pets are not permitted.

Shop And Schmooze

The Glenwood Landing Women’s Club is hosting a holiday shop  and schmooze event from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Glen Head Community Center, 200 Glen Head Road, Glen Head. Shop a variety of local vendors providing handbags, jewelry, specialty clothing, hand knit items and more. Raffles will be held and refreshments served. Proceeds from vendor fees will go to local charitable services for children in our area. They are also collecting food and toiletry donations for local pantries.

Hanukkah Service, Dinner and Magic Show

Beginning at 6 p.m., North Country Reform Temple is opening its doors to the Jewish Community for its Hanukkah festivities this year. Prospective members are invited to join current members for a warm and festive Hanukkah service, followed by a holiday dinner and a professional magic show. The Hanukkah service begins with each family lighting the candles on their menorah (congregants and guests should bring their own menorah, candles will be provided.)  Everyone will join together to recite the Hanukkah blessings and celebrate with an engaging Shabbat service.  

Then the congregants and guests will retreat to the Temple’s social hall for dinner. The evening continues with professional magician David Funn, who will be putting on a special Hanukkah-themed magic show that is appropriate for ages 2-102. North Country Reform Temple member families pay $54 per family.  Prospective members are invited to join this event as guests of the Temple.  Please call the North Country Reform Temple office at 516-671-4760 to make reservations by Monday, Nov. 25. Winter Dreams Preview

A preview party will take place at North Shore Historical Museum from 6 to 8 p.m. to view the new exhibit Winter Dreams by Monica Randall.

Wine and hors d’oeuvres will be served and guests are encouraged to dress in Victorian period costume if they wish. Music reminiscent of the time will be provided by Barry Rivadue.

Tickets to the preview are $25 for members $30 for non-members. This exhibit will be at NSHM  from Dec. 7 to Feb. 15. The museum is open on Wednesday 2 to 6 p.m. and Saturdays 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Bazaar at the Church of Our Lady of Kazan 

Russian food, pastries, Russian gift items, jewelry… They will all be at the annual Christmas bazaar at the Church of Our Lady of Kazan in Sea Cliff. The bazaar will take place on Saturday, December 7th from noon to 4 p.m. in the parish hall of the Church of Our Lady of Kazan.
