Free the Girls Bra Drive 

Inside the Armoire in Locust Valley will be collecting gently used bras to donate to Free the Girls from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Free The Girls is a non-profit organization that provides job opportunities for survivors of sex trafficking. They collect gently used bras and donate them to the women as starting inventory for their own business selling the bras. Inside the Armoire will be collecting gently used bras to donate to Free the Girls. For every bra donated, receive 20 percent off a new bra. Veterans Reception

The Rotary Club of Glen Cove and Operation Initiative are hosting a Red, White and Blue reception and fellowship gathering to honor veterans, family, caregivers and guests. The event will take place at The View Grill at Glen Cove Golf Course from 6 to 9 p.m. Proceeds from the event will be used to print and distribute copies of Operation Initiative, a resource manual outlining benefits and services available to veterans and their families. Copies of the manual will be available at the event and may be viewed on Admission donation begins at $20 and includes light refreshments and entertainment. Veterans in uniform are admitted free of charge. Those sporting a military hat or dog-tags are half-price and those wearing red white and blue will be eligible for a 10 percent discount. Veterans are encouraged to bring a picture taken while in the service for a “then and now” photo-op which will serve as a take-away gift. Blessing of the Animals

Pre-Holiday Cocktail Party

The American Legion, Glenwood Landing Post 336, hosts a Pre-Holiday Cocktail Party on Friday evening, Oct. 4, from 6 to 11 p.m. The party will feature music by the “South Street Band”, food specialties from local restaurants, and a cash bar. Admission charge is your donation to the Thanksgiving/Christmas Food Basket Drive. These food baskets are prepared and delivered on each holiday to families in need in the North Shore Community. Have  a fun evening with music, dancing, and food along with knowing that your donation is going to a very worthy cause. The American Legion Post is located at 190 Glen Head Road , Glen Head. Friends Academy Fall Fair 

Families can eat, play, shop and ride at this annual fundraising event, open to the public all day Saturday. Montaukett Tribe Workshops At Garvies Point

Members of the Montaukett Tribe of Long Island will conduct the first of a series of hands-on workshops of traditional and contemporary Native American arts at Garvies Point Museum, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Workshops will include storytelling with music and crafts such as tribal turkey feather fans, shell work, jewelry, and ribbon shirts. 

Registration is required. $5 per person per workshop; children under 5 are free but must register.

Another rally to save Glen Cove Hospital will be held at St. Gertrude's Church, 28 School Street in Bayville, from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Anyone interested is encouraged to come out and join the fight.
