With good weather came good times for the North Shore Varsity Tennis Team. On Monday, North Shore avenged their only loss of the season and came from behind to beat Clarke 4-3. Every player stepped up their individual game and reached a level of play not seen this season. The team needed this special effort, especially since Number 1 singles player Dylan Talcott was out due to a season ending ankle injury. All four Doubles teams posted victories. The clinching match was Jonathan Khani and Randy Felice at fourth doubles. They came back from triple match point in the second set to win a three set thriller. After a day of practice, North Shore defeated East Rockaway/Malverne 6-1. Evan Fierstein earned a hard fought victory at second singles. In the latter part of the week, the Vikings played a home-away series with the Frogs of Carle Place. Again, North Shore was victorious 6-1, 4-0 respectively. The Vikings are currently tied for first place with Locust Valley with each team only having one loss in Conference IIIA. The Vikings play Locust Valley in a pivotal match-up of the top two teams this Friday at North Shore.
The North Shore High School Golf team only had another two matches this week. Again, both were very close losses. This week the team matched up against Jericho and Manhasset. Both schools are among the top teams in Nassau County.
The Vikings were led this week by the following seniors, also known as the "Fab Four". Eric Michalak, Jon Pirozzi, Brandon Robilotti and Peter Filippi. Vin Curcio and Jeff Bochert also pitched in with some nice rounds.
