James F. Carlson, of Glen Cove, died on Dec. 29, 2008. Husband of Joan (nee Giambruno). Father of Kathleen Monaco (Lee), Elizabeth Carlson, Jim and Bobby (Kim). Mass held at St. Patrick RC Church. Interment private. Donald Kutch, of Glen Head, died on Jan. 8, 2009 at age 64 after a long battle with illness. He now rests in peace. Father of Jarrad. Son of Lorraine and the late Fred of Sea Cliff. Brother of Fredric, Christian, Marie and the late Catherine. He was a former highly skilled carpenter of Local Union 608 in New York City and longtime member of the Anglers Club of Glen Cove. He will be missed greatly by friends and family. Arthur Leach, 81, of Glen Cove, died on Jan. 9, 2009. Arthur was a life member of the Matinecock Rod and Gun Club as well as a member of the Glen Cove Anglers' Club. He was well known for his love of the Long Island seashore and a lifetime of fishing and clamming.

Arthur Leach was a WWII veteran, having served with the United States Marine Corps. After the war, he entered Champlain College in Plattsburg, NY, which is now part of the University of Vermont. In 1951, Arthur married Marjorie Sullivan of Sea Cliff. He was a graduate of Hofstra University with a BBA.

Mr. Leach retired from Grumman Aerospace of Bethpage as director of Administrative Services/Personnel and Administration. During his long retirement, he loved the warm tropical breezes felt from the front porch of his home in Key West, FL.

Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Marjorie; and children, Susan L. of Kennedy, NY, Arthur W. (Raphael) of Alpharetta, GA, James H. (Marie) of Bellmore and Wesley R. (Monika) of Sea Cliff. Also surviving are five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Visiting was held at Dodge-Thomas Funeral Home, Glen Cove. A Mass was held at the Church of St. Rocco. Donations can be made to Memorial Sloan-Kettering at Mercy Hospital of Rockville Centre or Glen Cove Hospital, Intensive Care Unit, Glen Cove.

Marina Politano, of Glen Cove, died on Jan. 9, 2009 at age 80. Wife of Michele. Mother of Joseph, Maria, Lucy (Mike Anastasio), Dominick (Ann) and Frank. Sister of Dominic Zangari, Connie Valensisi, the late Frank Zangari, Vincent Zangari and Caterina Anastasio. Grandmother of seven. Great-grandmother of 10. Maria Louise Richards Reynolds

Maria "Mary Lou" Louise Richards Reynolds, 62, of Conover, NC, died on Jan. 10, 2009 at Palliative CareCenter & Hospice of Catawba Valley. She was born Sept. 1, 1946 in Nassau County, daughter of Herbert Wilbur and the late Marcella LaJoy Wilbur. She was a member of St. Stephens Lutheran Church ELCA and was a member of the church choir. She was employed with Catawba County Government in the building permit office.

Survivors include her husband of 25 years, John Reynolds; her father, Herbert Wilbur of Pennsylvania; daughters, Laura Lovern of Hickory, NC, Kathrine Reynolds of Hickory, Carol Hoke of Hickory, Patricia Cole of Jacksonville, FL, and Heidi Jarrett of Hickory; sons, Greg Reynolds of New York and Michael S. Kempf of New York; a sister, Emelia Wilbur of Pennsylvania; brothers, Michael Wilbur of Pennsylvania, Herb Richards of Pennsylvania and Sean Wilbur of Maryland; and 10 grandchildren.

A service of remembrance was held on Jan. 13 at St. Stephen's Lutheran Church ELCA in Hickory, NC, with the Rev. Richard A. Hites officiating. Burial in the church cemetery. The Reynolds family entrusted funeral arrangements to the Drum Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Conover, NC. Alma Elizabeth Tagliabue Harr died after a long struggle with an illness at the age of 81. She taught nursing for over 30 years at Nassau Community College and was a great contributor to the Long Island community. She is survived and missed by her daughter Kendal; son-in-law Darryl; and granddaughters, Lillian and Maeve. We will hold her in our hearts forever. Kim Calo (nee Anderson) of Glen Head, died on Jan. 10, 2009. Mother of Nicholas and Jonathan. Daughter of Arthur and the late Virginia. Sister of Arthur, Debra, Virginia, Wayne, Carol and Glenn. Page, formerly of Jamaica, Queens and Sea Cliff, passed away peacefully on Jan.13, 2009 at age 97. He was the husband of the late Marie Page; father of Lois and the late Dick Hutton, Allan and Janice Page and Judy and Ray Silka. He was the grandfather of eight, John, David, Jennifer, Kristin, Joel, Lauren, Kaitlyn, and Megan and great-grandfather of Matthew, Luke, Page, Jeffrey Jr., Nathaniel, Anna and Amelia. He is survived by a sister, Dorothy Kuhn; and many nephews and nieces. Lester worked for many years in the post office as a postal supervisor in Jamaica, Queens. He was a longtime and active member of Grace Lutheran Church in Jamaica and served in many leadership capacities throughout the years. After his wife's death, he moved to Sea Cliff and enjoyed his life surrounded and cared for by his daughter Judy and son-in-law Ray, their daughters and neighbors. During this time, Lester became an active member and made many wonderful friends in The Golden Ring and Mutual Concerns. He was also an active member of the North Shore Kiwanis, regularly attending meetings and volunteering for holiday bell ringing, pancake breakfast and answering the telephone for the Mini-mart. Lester enjoyed life and never turned down an adventure whether it was traveling to Europe and China or just enjoying his grandchildren and great-grandchildren on a Saturday afternoon. In addition to his devotion to his family, Lester's hobbies included photography, genealogy, the computer and e-mail, Wii golf and bowling, and of course, the Mets. Lester was known as a man of great depth, humility, honor and old-fashion values. We all will miss him. The family will celebrate his life and receive friends at the Whitting Funeral Home, 300 Glen Cove Ave., Glen Head, on Jan. 16 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. The service will be at 8 p.m. Burial will be private.
