On Saturday, Aug. 30, SCO Family of Services will host its annual Peter Speranza 5K Run to Help the Children at St. Christopher's Home in Sea Cliff.
The course winds through the hills of Victorian Sea Cliff with three races. The ChemRX Half-Pint Half-Mile Race is for elementary school children and will begin at 9 a.m. At 9:20, the Middle School Mile will commence. The last race, The Peter Speranza 5K Run for the Children, will begin promptly at 9:45. The race will be timed by Start to Finish and will use the microchip method of scoring. Race results will be available shortly after the race ends and will be posted on the Start to Finish website. Each runner will receive a race T-shirt and awards will be given to the top finishers in each age category. Refreshments will be available following the last race, along with a ragtime band to entertain the runners and spectators.
Late registration is $25 and will take place Friday, Aug. 29 from 5 to 7 p.m. and on the race day from 7 to 9 a.m. at SCO Family of Services, 101 Downing Avenue, Sea Cliff.
