Marjorie Ann Hagan, 88, a longstanding resident of Glen Head and Sea Cliff and more recently of Venice, FL, died on July 1, 2008. Born on May 27, 1910, Marjorie grew up in Rego Park, Queens, and graduated from Newtown High School, Elmhurst, in 1928. Married in 1942 to Robert Thomas Hagan, a WWII U.S. Marine Corps master sergeant, Marjorie moved to Santa Barbara, CA, and worked as a riveter supporting the war effort while Bob served in the Pacific. Together they raised their three daughters in Glen Head.
Marjorie became a licensed real estate salesperson and later a broker establishing a successful real estate business in her own name. She sold homes in the Glen Head/Sea Cliff communities for more than 40 years before retiring to Florida with Bob in 1984.
Marjorie became widowed at the age of 79, then lived with her daughter, Jean, until Jean's death in 2006. Devoted to her family, Marjorie's surviving children are Dr. Joan Arnold of Old Brookville and June Tess Wilson of Proctor, VT, and Saratoga Springs, NY; grandchildren are Michael and Matthew Arnold and Megan and Skylar Wilson; sons-in-law, Rick Arnold and Brent Wilson; brother Walter Caracciolo of Locust Valley.
Arrangements were made by the Claude R. Boyd-Spencer Funeral Home, Babylon Village. A memorial service will be held at an undetermined time. Lester Coles Irvine, lifelong resident of Glen Cove, died on July 4, 2008 at age 75. He was a U.S. Navy veteran during the Korean Conflict on the USS Aludra. Former proprietor of Charlie's Stationery on Landing Road. Brother of Charles. Uncle of Cathy, Charles (Joann) and Robert. Arrangements were made by the Dodge-Thomas Funeral Home, Glen Cove. A graveside service was held at Calverton National Cemetery.
