She was born in Southampton, England, immigrating to this country in 1924. A graduate of Williamsburg High School in New London, CT, she graduated from St. Luke's School of Nursing, New York City, in 1939. She was married for 60 years to Dr. Charles W. Hayden, former chief of surgery at Glen Cove Community Hospital, where she served with distinction for over 50 years on the auxiliary. For 11 years, she was the volunteer town clerk of Lattingtown and was also active for many years on the board of the Visiting Nurse Association. She leaves children, Eric, Brian and Carol; grandchildren, Alex, Marielle and Jessica; and daughters-in-law, Tove and Lyn. Interment of her ashes will be at a future date in Locust Valley Cemetery. Frank Comitino, formerly of Glen Cove, died on June 11, 2008. He was a U.S. combat Army veteran of WWII. Husband of the late Sophie. Father of Nancy, Mary Ann and Frank. Grandfather of nine.
