Ann "Pat" Reuthe, 79, passed away on March 29, 2007 at St. Luke Hospital West, Florence, Kentucky.
Born in Brooklyn, NY in 1928, Pat moved to Sea Cliff and became an integral part of the village community, from working in the cafeteria at the Sea Cliff Elementary School with Joan Becker to forming the Sea Cliff Girls Softball Organization, the Sea Gals. For every holiday, Pat would decorate the windows of her home on Sea Cliff Avenue. It was even more special during the Christmas season and as people walked down the avenue they would be serenaded by holiday music resounding from a loudspeaker. Pat would perch herself on her front porch for every parade and occasion, as well as simply to read the newspaper with her morning coffee. Neighbors, including police officers Tony Tango, Mark Kenner and Jim Reed, would often stop to join her for coffee and a chat.
Pat's tenure at North Shore included her position as commentator at the Senior Fashion Show. Once word spread about what an entertainer Pat was, the event was sold out every year with new fans and old.
At the inaugural Sea Cliff Mini-Mart, the firemen were setting up their food stand and were in need of coffee. One by one, they came to Pat. By day's end, she had made innumerable pots of coffee and had taken the cherry pie that was made for Grandma's birthday and sold it by the piece. Every year thereafter, Pat would be out with Carol and Jean selling coffee and doughnuts to the early birds.
Twenty-five years ago Jerry Reuthe's job forced the family to relocate to Northern Kentucky, but Pat always held Sea Cliff close to her heart.
Pat was predeceased by her husband Jerry, who died in 2002, and her brother Fred Wissemann. She leaves behind sons Robert, Scott and Russell; daughters Donna and Diane Reuthe Campbell; brothers Thomas Wissemann and John Wissemann, 14 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
A celebration of Pat's life took place at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Burlington KY. A memorial service will be held locally at St. Boniface Martyr Church in Sea Cliff on June 14 at 1 p.m.
