Costas, of Locust Valley, died on March 30, 2008. He was a dedicated and loved anesthesiologist at St. Francis Hospital in Roslyn. Husband of Shelly. Brother of Jack (Diane) Costas and Carol Costas. Helen Chapman (Darasdi) died on March 30, 2008. She was born in New York City on Feb. 14, 1908. When she was 10 years old, she moved to Glen Cove with her mother to be part of the family of Stephen Darasdi.

In 1932 she married Salvatore Romano and had one daughter, Barbara Ann. Salvatore died in 1939 and Helen returned to live with her parents Helen and Stephen Darasdi and her brothers, Charles and Peter, and her sister Mary. Mary preceded her in death in 1975.

In 1955, Helen married Louis Chapman of Sea Cliff. They lived in Glen Cove. Louis died in 2003.

Helen had a long work history, having worked for Glen Cove City Hall, New York Water and the Roslyn Water District. She retired in 1980 at the age of 72. Following this, Helen was a volunteer at Glen Cove Hospital for almost 20 years.

She was a hard worker, a devoted mother, wife, grandmother and friend. She was well loved by all who knew her. She moved to Sunrise of Glen Cove in 2004.

She is survived by her brothers, Charles of Schoharie, NY, and Peter of Glen Cove; her daughter, Barbara Romano Crawford of Mercer Island, WA; four granddaughters, Laura Crawford, Maureen Crawford, Claudia Kilbreath of Washington State, and AnnMarie Lyons of Mason, OH; and five great-grandchildren.
