On Feb. 29, the Sea Cliff Beach Committee sponsored a "Leap Day Pub Crawl" along Sea Cliff Avenue's bars and restaurants and would like to thank all who made the event the great success it was.

Attendees purchased a Sea Cliff Beach logo mug and five tickets, which they redeemed at Tupelo Honey, Partners, Roots, Il Villagio Pizza or Gallagher's Pub. Partygoers of legal ages enjoyed walking the downtown street to sample a beverage or pizza slice at each establishment. Snowfall later in the evening was a delight to the locals enjoying their downtown area, even inspiring a few uninhibited individuals to have an impromptu snowball fight!

Many of the "crawlers" visited a bar or restaurant they had not had the opportunity to patronize previously. The atmosphere at each place was abuzz with excitement about the sold-out event. Partners held a kayak raffle and donated all beverages and proceeds to the beach committee! Certified Physical Therapy donated an iPod which was raffled off at Partners Bar. Congratulations to the lucky winners!

Once Upon a Moose generously served as the storefront for the beach committee's mug and T-shirt sales. They were inundated with phone calls and an eager Friday night crowd. Many mugs contained a coupon that the purchaser could redeem for $10 off a meal at the Moose, a lovely place to breakfast or lunch.

A big thank you to Tupelo Honey for donating all beverages to the Pub Crawl and for hosting such a large crowd, while still serving epicurean delights for dinner. Roots, Sea Cliff's newest fine restaurant, was also swarmed while still serving their delicious dinner and they very graciously accommodated everyone. Thank you to the great Gallagher's for participating in the Pub Crawl, and also to Il Villagio for its generosity in serving pizza to the attendees.

The Sea Cliff Beach Committee was established in 2007 to augment the village's renovation plan for Sea Cliff Village Beach. Government funding is being procured to expand the beachfront area, replace playground equipment, and relocate the parking lot and kayak racks. Fundraising by the Sea Cliff Beach Committee will provide new chairs, umbrellas, a water feature, and other niceties not funded by other sources. Look for some of these new items at the next beach committee party, the 2nd annual I Love Sea Cliff Beach Bash on Saturday, June 28.

Again, the committee extends thanks to all participants.
