Anthony Lynn Maker was born in Glen Cove on Sept. 7, 1936. Known to his friends as Lynn or Tony, he passed away on Nov. 23, 2007 with his Sea Cliff High School love, Gail Schramm (Capobianco) at his side. Lynn previously lived in Columbus, NC. Lynn and Gail lived in New Port Richey, FL.
Lynn graduated from Glen Cove High School in 1955 and served for five years in the US Air Force. He was a career driver for Texaco and Amoco.
Lynn was predeceased by his parents, Evelyn (Tilton) and Bernard F. Maker and his brother Albert W. Allchin. He is survived by five children, Michael, Anna Marie Coons (George), Stephen, Sue Brust (Jim), Mark (Kim) and seven grandchildren, Aaron, Alicia, Kevin, Ryan, Dylan, Christopher James (CJ) and Cydney.
Lynn was a personable, compassionate person and was an inspiration to others. He was known to make all laugh with his great sense of humor. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Interment was a Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL.
Zenith R. Tischner, of Sea Cliff, formerly of Glen Cove, died on March 9, 2008. Mother Holly Thompson (Chas), Richard S. Tischner Jr. (Virginia) and the late Heidi Tischner Johnson. Grandmother of David, Michael, Ryan and Richard S. III. Sister of May Myatt. Private cremation took place. Burial of ashes Holy Rood Cemetery.
Zenith was retired from the Glen Cove Public School District where she worked as a school nurse-teacher in the K.A. Deasy School, Landing School and the high school. She was also an active member of the Retired Teacher's Association and served on the board of that association for many years.

Joseph M. Weiss, D.D.S., of Glen Cove, died March 12, 2008 from complications of Parkinson's Disease. He was 82. A 53-year resident of Glen Cove, he was married to Eunice and raised four children. After graduating from NYU College of Dentistry in 1947, he had an office in New York City before opening an orthodontic practice at his home in Glen Cove. In his 27-plus years of practicing there, he treated numerous neighborhood families.
His passion was the open water, particularly boating and fishing. He was a member and past commander of the Coast Guard Auxiliary, Flotilla 12-3.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Jonathan (Susan), Richard, Beth (Jim) and Carol (Chris), and two granddaughters, Shari and Lana.

Franciszek (Frank) Biercki, (Ret. Pall Corp.), of Glen Cove, died on March 19, 2008 at the age of 92. Beloved husband of Anastazia (Anna). Loving and giving father of Sophia Cekala and father-in-law of Michael Cekala. Cherished grandfather of Jessica, Valerie, Christian and Joe. Great-grandfather of Jonathan Rakshys. Frank was born in a country that changed names three times. First it was Austria, then it became Poland, and now it is the Ukraine. He grew up in Poland. His mother died when he was 5 years old. His older sister who was 7 years old raised him and his little sister. He always said "you don't know how lucky you are to have a mother."
He was in the Polish Army during World War II and was a prisoner of war in Germany for eight years. After his release he was sent to a civilian camp where he met his future wife Anna. They married with 30 other couples on Christmas Day 1945 when a priest visited the camp. They were married for 63 years.
In 1949, Frank and Anna set forth on a 10-day journey to America by boat, arriving on Columbus Day. Frank was a caretaker of an estate in Glen Cove by day and worked at night at Columbia Ribbon and Carbon. Frank and Anna bought a house four years later. He worked at Columbia Ribbon and Carbon for 40 years. At age 65, when most people thought of retirement, Frank began working at Pall Corporation in Glen Cove. He always said he was fortunate to work there and he regretted that it wasn't longer - he worked there for 20 years. Frank Birecki retired when he was 85 years old.
Frank Birecki loved life so very much. He showed his family how to live a simple and good life. He was an active member of St. Hyacinth's Church attending Sunday Masses. He enjoyed nature and was a proud, successful gardener. He taught himself to read and write English. He was very curious and always tried to learn something new.
The importance of family was dear to him and always said "never, never take family for granted." He was a good provider and very generous to his family and friends and they will never forget him.
Patricia Eulalia Tee, 57, devoted wife, mother, sister, sister-in-law, friend and "coach to the world" passed away peacefully on March 15, 2008 at her home in Boston, MA. Ms. Tee was born in New York City and grew up in Glen Cove. She devoted her life to making other people's lives more healthy and productive. She underwent training in nursing at the St. Clare's School of Nursing receiving her RN in 1970. She pursued her career at the Massachusetts General Hospital, New England Deaconess Hospital, Mt. Auburn Hospital, and other hospitals in the Boston area. She returned to New York City in 1979 to coordinate infectious disease clinical research at the New York University/New York Veteran's Administration Medical Center. She went on to head up HIV clinical research for the National Hemophilia Foundation. She was a board member of the American Infertility Association as well as the Boys and Girls Club of the San Francisco Bay area. She served as a volunteer with the Trenton Crisis Ministry as well as various committees at the Stuart Country Day School and Princeton Day School. She was a successful personal and life coach with clients from around the world. In her later years, she divided her time between her homes in Boston, MA, and Sarasota, FL.
She is survived by her husband, Alan W. Dunton, M.D., her daughter, Sarah Dorothy Dunton, her son, Warren James Dunton, her sister, Jeanne C. Tee and brother-in-law, John Donlan of Quincy, MA and two brothers, William B. Tee of Glen Cove and James R. Tee of Ft. Lauderdale, FL. Her parents James and Florence are both deceased.
A memorial service will be held on April 5 at 10:30 a.m. at the Stuart Country Day School of the Sacred Heart in Princeton, NJ. Donations can be made to the Princeton Healthcare System Foundation (www.princetonhcs.org).
Dorothy L. Otto died on March 17, 2008 at the age of 99. She was a long time resident of Glen Head and will be missed always and forever by her surviving daughters, Marilynn Tullman of New York, Deborah Lippard of Massachusetts, Viginia Simpkins and Vivian Brady of California and her sons-in-law, Herbert Tullman, Patrick Simpkins and Ed Brady. Grandmother of nine. Great-grandmother of eight. Her family will miss her wonderful kindness, companionship and love every day.

Marion Cirina, 86, of Sea Cliff, died on March 18, 2008. Wife of the late Lawrence J. Cirina. Mother of Larry (Rosemarie) Cirina, Kathy Cirina, Carol (Rene) Cirina, Tommy (Louise) Cirina, Nancy Cirina, Alma (Steve) Cacioppo, John Cirina and JoAnne (Richard) DiLorenzo. Grandmother of Sean, Angela, Kevin, Lawrence "Butch," Tommy, Chris, T.J., Jackie, Michael, Karyn, Nicole, Casey, Cirina and Richie. Great-grandmother of Isabella, Andrew and Bodhi. Sister of Joseph "Bud" McCabe and the late Dorothy Hiltner.
She was born Dec. 18, 1921 in Philadelphia, PA. She grew up in Atlantic City, attended Holy Spirit High School and graduated from Atlantic City Hospital Nursing School. She served in the US Navy as a registered nurse, stationed in Pensacola, FL
She married and lived in one of the original Levitt homes in Levittown which they quickly outgrew and moved to Sea Cliff in 1954. Marion was a long time member of St. Boniface Parish and active in the church and St. Boniface School, where all her children attended. She was a proud member of the St. Boniface Mother's Club. She was employed at St. Christopher-Ottilie Agency in Sea Cliff as an adoptive and home care nurse from 1964 to 1994.
As Marion got older, she continued to be a dedicated parishioner of St. Boniface Martyr and faithful member of the Wednesday afternoon Prayer Group. Her greatest pleasure in later life was attending the numerous activities and sporting events of her grandchildren. To her family, she was the epitome of motherhood. She will be missed dearly.

Serafin Portela, of Roslyn, died on March 20, 2008. In memory of our amazing dad and grandpa who at the early age of 19 immigrated from Galicia, Spain to NewYork and established along with his brother the number one nightclub/restaurant, The Chateau Madrid. Loved and respected for his love of life, willingness to help all and sincerity of spirit. He will be tremendously missed by all his friends and family.
