The Big Red varsity lacrosse season is beginning with nine returning players and is captained by senior Patricia Mele and juniors Sofia Christopoulos and Kelsea Valance. Joining them again are senior Samantha Simon, juniors Meredith Baade, Megan Gardrvits, Robin Godfrey, Yvonne Mennuti and Renee Orshan. The team welcomes its new players, juniors Jessica Totino, Krista Bruschini and Lauren Budzenski, sophomores Brittany Baker, Samantha Basile and Chelsee Marks, and freshman Heather Artinian. The coaches are excited and ready to prepare the team for competition. The enthusiasm, desire and energy have been terrific. Lacrosse is a difficult game to master initially, but the girls have good strong stick skills, which will gel into team play. The season opens on March 27, away against Great Neck North.

Past recruited Glen Cove players who are playing in college include Stacie Tripp (junior), captain of Mount Saint Vincent; Jamie Carlson (freshman), starting goalkeeper for Stonybrook University; Kelley Cunningham (freshman), who is playing for Pfeiffer University and Meghan Wall (freshman), who is playing club lacrosse at Towson University. Coaches Gow and Gormanare extremely proud of these young women and the role models they are for the current Big Red players.

The Glen Cove Big Red softball team is looking forward to a successful and disciplined season. The team is working hard both physically and mentally, striving to achieve a level of excellence and value that can be used both on and off the field. This year's team members are Aja Alter, Salia Calinda, Sonia Canales, Ashley Conklin, Kristen Cornelis, Sara Graziosi, Kimberly Kessel, Ashley Lightbourn, Theresa Lucarelli, Kimberly Marte and Melissa Shearer. The team will be coached by Kelly McDonough and Brett Rubin.
