Carlo Crispano, of Glen Cove, died on March 13, 2008 at age 94. Husband of the late Angela. Father of Maria, Annunziata, Giuseppe, Antonio and the late Gennaro. Grandfather of Giorgio. Arrangements were made by the Funeral Home of Dodge-Thomas, Glen Cove. Mass St. Patrick RC Church Entombment Holy Rood Cemetery. Mary Maurer, of Glen Cove, died on March 13, 2008. Wife of the late William. She is survived by many nieces, nephews and grand nieces and nephews. Arrangements were made by the Whitting Funeral Home, Glen Head. Funeral Mass at St. Boniface Martyr Church Interment V.A. National Cemetery, Calverton. Hickey Katz died on March 13, 2008. Husband of Ronnie. Father of Martin (Deborah) Katz. Grandfather of Aja and Ethan Katz. Services were held on March 16 with Rabbi Howard M. Cohen officiating at the McLaughlin Kramer Megiel Funeral Home, Glen Cove. Interment New Montefiore Cemetery, Farmingdale. Walter E. Johnson, of Glen Head, died on March 14, 2008. A WWII veteran serving with the Army in the European Theater, he was an active member of Glenwood American Legion Post 336. Husband of M. Patricia Johnson. Predeceased by his brother Robert and sister Anita. Brother-in-law of Elizabeth (the late Bob) Schnelle and Loretta (Roger) Raymond. Also survived by many loving nieces, nephews and godchildren. Arrangements were made by the Whitting Funeral Home, Glen Head. Funeral Mass at St. Boniface Martyr Church. Interment Holy Rood Cemetery. Maria Concetta Verni, of Bayville, died on March 15, 2008 at age 59. Wife of Rocco. Mother of Angela, Elena and Rosa. Sister of Melina, Nicoletta, Vita and Antonio. Grandmother of Isabella and Adriana. Service at the Funeral Home of Dodge-Thomas, Glen Cove. Interment St. Charles Cemetery.

Guido H. Gioia, of Glen Cove, died on March 16, 2008 after losing his battle with cancer. Guido was the only child of Italian immigrants, Vincenzo and Rosina Gioia. He was born on Sept. 28, 1922 in Jersey City, NJ. Guido graduated from St. Dominic High School in Oyster Bay in 1940. He studied engineering and obtained his Bachelor's degree from Cornell University. Guido served as a soldier in the army during WWII.

He was an entrepreneur, following in the footsteps of his parents, running his own businesses including a boating business and a liquor store. Guido ran Gioia Wines and Liquors for many years in the town of Glen Cove prior to moving his family to upstate New York. After residing in upstate New York for approximately13 years, Guido and his family moved back to Glen Cove, where he lived out the rest of his days. Guido was a self-reliant and hard-working individual with a great interest in many different subjects, including history, mathematics and law. He completed one year of medical school at Johns Hopkins University, and one year of law school at New York Law School.

Guido is survived by his wife, Marie; his children, Joseph, Vincent, and Cynthia; and his daughter-in-law Eileen. He was the grandfather of Joey, Tarah and Andrea; and great-grandfather to J.J.

Wake services were held at the Dodge Thomas Funeral Home, Glen Cove. A blessing ceremony was held at St. Rocco's Church. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that charitable donations be made in Guido's name. In the course of his life, Guido made donations to various organizations. Among those organizations most dear to him were: St. Judes Children's Hospital, St. Joseph's Indian School in South Dakota, American Heart Association, American Cancer Society, The Humane Society and ASPCA.

Rose A. Butler, of Glen Cove, died on March 17, 2008. Wife of the late Brendan J. Mother of Debbie (Arthur) Pearsall, Brenda (Ilene) and Patricia (Ed) McCoy. Grandmother of Artie and Jessica Pearsall. Sister of Ann Churillo, Marion Mahoney and Frank Genova. Arrangements were made by the McLaughlin Kramer Megiel Funeral Home, Glen Cove. Blessing at the Church of St. Rocco Thursday at 9 a.m. Interment Locust Valley Cemetery.
