May Meyer, of Glen Cove, died on Feb. 18, 2008. wife of the late Raymond C. Meyer. Mother of Raymond C. (Jane) Meyer Jr. and Peter Meyer. Grandmother of Raymond C. Meyer III, Kathleen Meyer and Joseph Meyer. Memorial service held at the Whitting Funeral Home, Glen Head. Interment to follow at Evergreens Cemetery, Brooklyn.

Robert J. Jackson, 72, surrounded by his family, died on Feb. 22 at home in Savannah, GA. Born in Glen Cove, Bob attended Sea Cliff High School and was a long time resident of Glen Head. He honorably served in the U.S. Army 8th infantry tank division in Europe from 1954 to 1962.

He married in 1959 and worked for the N.Y. Telephone Company, retiring after 35 years. He was a member of the NYTel Pioneer division. He served as president of Glen Head, Glenwood Landing Little League for many years. Bob was largely responsible for setting the groundwork for the excellent baseball program that still exists today. In 1996 he moved to Atco, New Jersey, then in 1998 to Savannah where the touched many with his presence. If you spoke with him you befriended him. He never met a stranger and we will all miss him dearly.

He was preceded in death by his wife Karen L. Jackson. He is survived by his sister Joan Chancler, Calabash NC; children, Barbara Jackson Byrne (Tom), Alan J. Jackson (Elizabeth), Scott R. Jackson (Holli); four grandchildren, Thomas R. Byrne, Troy S. Byrne, Turner A. Byrne and Courtney N. Jackson; and many nieces and nephews.
