Ernesto Rivas, longtime resident of Glen Cove, died on Dec. 2, 2007 at age 71. Father of Iris Lopez and the late Ernesto Jr. Brother of Florentino, Carmen, Anna, Jesus and Jose. Grandfather of four. Uncle of many loving nieces and nephews. Visiting and prayer service at the Funeral Home of Dodge-Thomas, Glen Cove. Interment private. Joyce M. Goldberg, 88, of Millbrook, NY, formerly of Glen Cove, died on Dec. 4, 2007. Wife of the late Lionel M. Goldberg. Mother of Jane Barclay (Stephen) and Nancy Kassop. Grandmother of Lisa Barclay (Ben Hall), Laura O'Conor (Joe), Erika Breton (Dan) and Allison Gidley (Quint). Great-grandmother of Isaac Hall, Maya O'Conor and Nicholas O'Conor. She was a grand lady, much beloved by her family and many friends. She will be missed by those who had the honor of knowing her. Services were held at Whitting Funeral Home, Glen Head. Interment Montefiore Cemetery, Springfield Gardens, NY.

Ignatius A. ("Nat") Triolo, of Glen Cove and Brooklyn, passed away peacefully and surrounded by love on Dec. 5, 2007 at the age of 75. Father of Gianna. Big brother of Jean Triolo Murphy, Sadie Irwin, and the late Salvatore. Uncle to his niece Mimi (Jean Marie) Murphy and his late nephew Marty Murphy. Friend to his personal care companion Christina Seetahal, who along with Jean and Mimi provided tender loving care to the end; reflective of both his courage and their exceptional care. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Dr. Alan Nelson and Donna Donnelly, RN whose generous spirit and kindness to Nat during his illness was monumental.

Nat was a graduate of New York University and New York Law School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict. Nat dedicated his professional life to the great City of New York and concluded his career as the director of the Blue Collar Division for District Counsel 37 and associate administrator for District Counsel 37 Health and Security Plan. Early on in his career he was recreation director for the City of New York Parks and Recreation.

Nat was a larger than life personality and will always be remembered as a leader in his field and an inspiration to those who had the pleasure of knowing him. A no nonsense principled man of integrity with a tremendous humor and wit. He will be missed terribly and forever in our hearts.

A prayer service officiated by Father Fred of St. Boniface Martyr Church was held at the Funeral Home of Dodge-Thomas, Glen Cove, followed by an interment at St. John's Cemetery, Queens.

Joseph Gentile, of Glen Cove, died on Dec. 6, 2007. Husband of Sherilyn. Father of Joanna and Jaime. Son of "Guns" and Mary Ann. Brother of the late Elaine Stanco. Uncle of Michael and Ashlee. Friend of Ken Swenson and Jimmy Capozzi. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, Cousins and friends. Arrangements were made by the Whitting Funeral Home, Glen Head. A memorial service was be held Dec. 12 at the funeral home. Interment private. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Hospice Care Network, 99 Sunnyside Blvd., Woodbury, NY 11797 or Interfaith Nutrition Network, 211 Fulton Av., Hempstead, NY 11550. Othilia K. Platt, a longtime resident of Glen Cove, died on Dec. 6, 2007 at age 88. Wife of the late Robert J. Mother of Wendy Olesen (Russell), and the late Carol. Grandmother of Carol-Ann Morbillo (Joseph). Great-grandmother of twins, Ryan and Nicholas. Also survived by nephew Frank Simonsen and niece Victoria Stucky. Othilia lived in Glen Cove for 54 years. She was happily married to her husband Robert for 55 years. She was an active parishioner at St. Paul's Episcopal Church where she was also a Sunday School teacher. She was a Girl Scout leader and was a volunteer for translation into Braille for the blind. Arrangements were made by the Funeral Home of Dodge-Thomas, Glen Cove. Service held at St. Paul's Episcopal Church. Interment East Hillside Cemetery. Phina Hickey, longtime resident of Locust Valley, died on Dec. 8, 2007 at age 93. Wife of the late Thomas C. Sr. Mother of Thomas Jr., Joan Kehoe, James and Carol Remondino (Richard). Grandmother of Elizabeth, Billy, Jimmy, Barbara, Tommy, Jim, Katie, Michael, Kyle, Kelsey, and Cory. Great-grandmother of seven. Also survived by loving nieces and nephews. Arrangements were made by the Funeral Home of Dodge-Thomas, Glen Cove. Mass St. Patrick's RC Church. Interment Locust Valley Cemetery.
